Car and Driver Reviews the 2016 Nissan Altima

Curvy, dramatic styling mimics bigger brother Maxima and gives the Altima an upscale vibe. Engine choices are either a 182-hp 2.5-liter four or a 270-hp 3.5-liter V-6, both with a CVT. The SR infuses a little fun by adding stiffer suspension tuning, paddle shifters, and unique wheels. Forward emergency braking with adaptive cruise control creates a robust active-safety bundle. Overall, the Altima is a capable sedan with a decent options list and a roomy, comfortable cabin.

The 2015 Nissan Altima – Comfort, Efficient and Sporty Handling.

Strictly by the numbers, the Nissan Altima is doing great. As Nissan’s best-selling car in the U.S., the Altima ranks third in sales in the hugely competitive midsize sedan segment, right behind sales leaders like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

But even these popular models had better watch their backs, considering that outlying competitors –such as the Mazda6, Chrysler 200, Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata –are itching for a fight to the top.

Cars are more than numbers, however, and our initial impression of our Nissan test car’s 182-horsepower, 2.5-Liter 4-cylinder engine left something to be desired.  Our front-wheel-drive Altima SL seemed awfully noisy, especially if a long drive lay ahead. That initial impression faded away, thankfully, as the Altima showed off its sensible side (mixed with a touch of sportiness).

Our car came with Nissan’s upgraded continuously variable transmission (CVT) that delivers better fuel economy and less friction than before. The shift transitions are quiet, smooth, and barely noticeable.  With Nissan’s engineering improvements to the CVT, fuel economy is a workable 31-mpg city/38-mpg highway, or 27-mpg combined.  The Camry and Accord haven’t announced 2015 fuel economy, but our guess is the Altima will be best in class.

All SV and SL models are eligible for a Technology package that includes a seven-inch touch-screen with color display, navigation system, voice recognition and mobile apps.  Apps include Online Search powered by Google(navigation equipped vehicles only), Pandora(Android only – iOS coming soon), Facebook and iHeart Radio for Auto. The touch-screen produced clear images and functioned well during our test.

The Technology package also includes important passive safety features like blind-spot detection, lane departure warning and moving object detection –the latter shows moving objects at the rear when your car is in reverse.

During safety tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Altima recorded a frontal crash rating of 5-stars for the driver, 4-stars for the passenger, and 4-stars during the rollover test. As of this review, there were no published results for side impact tests.

Those who demand swifter acceleration can look at the Altima with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which delivers 270-horsepower and 25-mpg in a mix of city and highway driving.

Nissan has paid the extra pennies to ensure the interior feels solid and comes with plenty of features.  The SL trim enjoys leather seating with power seats contoured to reduce pressure on the spine and fatigue on long drives. The latest Altima is also one of the roomiest cars in its class—enough so that a six-foot relative sat in the back seat very comfortably.

Bose audio is standard on the SL, as is Sirius/XM satellite radio (a separate subscription is required) and a USB connection for your iPod.  Keyless entry with remote start, push-button ignition, power door locks and power one-touch windows, dual-zone automatic climate control, dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors and 60/40 fold down rear seats add extra convenience.

A rear view camera also contributes to the Altima’s safety profile. Standard safety features include traction control, vehicle dynamic control, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic brake force distribution, a vehicle security system and Nissan vehicle immobilizer system

All Nissan vehicles are backed by an unremarkable 36-month/36,000-mile limited vehicle coverage and a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain coverage.  The Altima’s residual value is around the segment average.

All of the midsize sedan segment's top sellers have received stylish updates, and the Nissan Altima is no exception.  The trapezoidal grille and projector headlights and fog lights give the front end a touch of excitement. The SL trim gets handsome alloy wheels, LED taillights, and a chrome tail pipe. All in all, the sloping roof line and raised trunk give the Altima a pleasing fluidity – even if the car’s omnipresence on the road means it’ll never turn any heads.

First impressions aren’t always spot-on accurate, as we discovered here. After spending more time with this Altima sedan, it proved to be a practical choice wrapped in a stylish, economical, and comfortable package.

KBB names Nissan Altima one of the 10 most comfortable cars under $30,000!

KBB names Nissan Altima one of the 10 most comfortable cars under $30,000. Must be those NASA inspired seats!

KBB REVIEW REPRINT:

The midsize sedan market is about the toughest segment in the industry – led by the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord – so if you're coming to play, you'd best bring your A-game. With the 2014 Altima, Nissan has done just that, earning it our praise as one of the 10 Best Sedans Under $25,000 for 2014. Not only has the automaker maintained the cool look and sports-car-like handling that made the original Altima such a success, they've done so while thoroughly modernizing the Altima in ways crucial to younger buyers. A new Apps-based music and navigation system spearheads the effort, as do a 38-mpg fuel economy rating (2.5 model) and premium materials throughout the handsome cabin. Nissan has done a masterful job making complex audio and navigation systems easy to operate and understand – something both old and young will appreciate.

2014 Nissan Altima 2.5 S vs. 2014 Toyota Camry LE

2014 Nissan Altima 2.5 S vs. 2014 Toyota Camry LE

When it comes down to mid-sized sedans, there are several options that will get the job done. But why not choose the car that will do the best job while providing the best value? The Toyota Camry may be thought of as the standard mid-size sedan, but the new 2014 Nissan Altima is making a name for itself as a better alternative when compared to the Camry.

The new 2014 Nissan Altima sports a sleeker design than its Toyota counterpart, and performs better than the Camry. See the table below:

Performance2014 Nissan Altima 2.5 S2014 Toyota Camry LE
Fuel economy - city (mpg)2725
Fuel economy - highway (mpg)3835
Fuel economy - combined (mpg)3029

Horsepower (hp)182 @ 6,000RPM178 @ 6,000RPM
Torque (lb.-ft.)180 @ 4,000RPM170 @ 4,100RPM

The new 2014 Nissan Altima outperforms the Toyota Camry in both horsepower and foot-pounds of torque, and manages to provide a higher gas mileage on the highway and in the city. But the 2014 Nissan Altima's benefits over the Toyota Camry don't end there. The Altima's amenities and features shine where the Toyota Camry falls short.

While many features come standard on the 2014 Nissan Altima, several of these amenities are costly upgrades on the 2014 Toyota Camry, or aren't available at all. Nissan's Intelligent Key system and tire specific low tire pressure warning are not found on the Camry, and other key Altima amenities such as cargo tie downs and radio data system provide a feature-rich user experience. The 2014 Nissan Altima also provides more front head and legroom than the Toyota Camry.

All in all, the 2014 Nissan Altima edges out ahead of the Toyota Camry in both power and available features. The new Altima's superior gas mileage and overall performance make it a better purchase than the 2014 Toyota Camry.

Michael Caruso seals super podium result at Albert Park

Michael Caruso seals super podium result at Albert Park

MELBOURNE - Michael Caruso has secured a deserved podium place at the Albert Park street circuit last weekend.

Caruso, driving the Norton/beyondblue Nissan Altima, finished third, enough to secure third overall for the Grand Prix event.
Caruso dropped back through the pack early, but with some great speed aboard his #300 beyondblue Altima, Caruso raced his way through the pack, eventually pipping Garth Tander at the finish line for third overall.
Caruso's Norton teammate James Moffat was very competitive, running as high as fourth until he was the innocent victim in a clash with Nissan teammate Rick Kelly and Red Bull driver Jamie Whincup.

The next event on the V8 Supercars Championship calendar takes us Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania in two weeks time.

Michael Caruso, #300 Norton/beyondblue Nissan Altima
"It's an absolutely brilliant result for Norton, beyondblue and Nissan. We started fifth and got crushed back to eighth. It was on for young and old out there and I was getting hit at every corner of the car. To manage to climb back up to third, it was a testament to the fantastic car speed that we had. It was as good as it's been this weekend. And to get Garth over the line, it makes the result even sweeter."
James Moffat, #360 Norton Nissan Altima
"Before the Safety Car, the speed of the car was fantastic. I was definitely pulling in Fabian (Coulthard) who was wounded with a flat spotted tire, but I felt it was just a matter of time before we reeled him. It was a great effort by the boys. They tuned it up over night and the changes definitely worked. That was one positive. Obviously, the result wasn't fantastic, but I was a victim of other people's accidents. That's motor racing, though. It's a shame for the guys, because they'll be fixing the car when they probably shouldn't have to be. I'm more encouraged now, because we have a bit of speed back in the old girl, and that's something to look forward to for the rest of the year."
Sunday trouble at the Australian Grand Prix
In other Altima V8 Supercar news, the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend ended on a low note for Jack Daniel's Racing drivers Todd and Rick Kelly, with both Nissan Altimas striking trouble on the streets of Albert Park.
The pair made solid progress in the early running of the fourth and final heat for the weekend, but Todd's race unraveled after the halfway mark of the 12-lap journey when his car suffered a sudden cooling issue.
Todd immediately parked the car to save damaging the engine, with the safety car called upon to remove his vehicle from the circuit.
Rick then made solid progress from the ensuing restart, but at the entry to turn nine, contact sent the car out of control into James Moffat and Jamie Whincup.
Stuck in the sand trap, Rick was classified a non-finisher.
The V8 Supercar Championship now moves south, with the Tyrepower Tasmania 400 scheduled for March 28-30 at Symmons Plains Raceway.
JACK DANIEL'S RACING QUOTEBOARD
TODD KELLY - #7 Jack Daniel's Racing Nissan Altima:
Race 4- DNF
"The weekend was looking not too bad, we had the potential to have all four cars in the top-ten for most of the weekend, and we've only come back with one car in the end. It's disappointing, but the speed from the cars has been pleasing. We'll bounce back at Symmons Plains."
RICK KELLY - #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Nissan Altima:
Race 4- DNF
"It was the exact opposite of what we hoped for. Sunday at the AGP always goes a little bit crazy with double points, and there was some really good fierce racing out there. We got a couple of good restarts and moved forward a little bit, and unfortunately we went under another car there and caught his back wheel when he moved over a bit.
"It sent me in the air, and it was a bit out of control from there to be honest. Once I climbed on the brakes I couldn't do much, it took us out, and it took (James) Moffat out as well, which is really disappointing because the last thing you want to have is for team cars to come together. No doubt we are all quite disappointed by that, the car pace was really good, in our car we made really good improvements today. That's as good as we could have hoped for from the weekend, we got (Michael) Caruso on the podium, we've now got to focus on Tasmania."

Cars.com selects Nissan Sentra and Versa sedan to its “Top 10 Cheapest New Cars You Can Buy” list

Cars.com selects Nissan Sentra and Versa sedan to its "Top 10 Cheapest New Cars You Can Buy" list

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - For Nissan, affordability meets uncompromised fuel efficiency and modern technology. This week, Cars.com, the leading online resource for buying and selling new and used cars, recognized two Nissan vehicles – Sentra and Versa Sedan – in its "Top 10 Cheapest New Cars You Can Buy" list, which identifies vehicles with the lowest sticker price and fuel costs on the market. Nissan was the only manufacturer with more than one vehicle on the list.

The 2014 Nissan Versa Sedan S Plus ranked third on the list with a starting price of $13,790** and 35 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy. The 2014 Nissan Sentra S with Xtronic transmission finished tenth with a starting price of $16,790** and 34 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy.
To create the list, Cars.com editors calculated sticker price and destination fees plus eight year fuel cost to decide which vehicles deliver the biggest "financial bang for your hard-earned buck." With starting price and eight-year fuel cost combined, the Sentra totaled $29,247, and the Versa Sedan amounted to $25,914. The last time Cars.com ran this test was in 2008, when the 2008 Versa placed sixth with a total cost of $30,002. While the price remains remarkably low, the fuel efficiency and technological advancement of the vehicles – including available technologies such as Bluetooth® and NissanConnect™ with Navigation – are as impressive as ever.
"Both Sentra and Versa Sedan feature notable fuel economy, advanced technology options, and an economical starting price that even the most frugal buyers can appreciate," said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. "In addition to impressive fuel economy and advanced technology, Sentra features a high-quality interior design with soft-touch instrument panel and door armrests, while Versa Sedan offers the most rear legroom in its class*. We're providing our buyers more for each dollar they pay, and we're honored to be recognized by Cars.com."
The affordable Nissan Sentra compact sedan offers a "class above" look and feel inside and out, along with refined performance and features. Its fuel-efficient 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine helps deliver 34 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy and a more than 415-mile real-world driving range. Available technology includes NissanConnectTM with Navigation and NissanConnectTM Apps smartphone integration for iPhone® and Android, Bose® Premium audio system with eight speakers, Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System and RearView Monitor.
The popular Nissan Versa Sedan continues to redefine entry-level car value. It combines a sophisticated exterior design, well-appointed interior and exceptional room for five adults – including more rear legroom than some mid-size sedans. Versa Sedan is marked by innovations such as an available affordable integrated navigation system and standard 1.6-liter engine with an advanced dual fuel injection system, which helps produce 40 mpg highway fuel economy. Versa Sedan is offered in four models: S, S Plus, SV and SL.

Jack Daniels Racing Takes on the Altima

Jack Daniels Racing Takes on the Altima

MELBOURNE, Australia - Jack Daniel's Racing has unveiled its new war paint for the 2014 V8 Supercar Championship, with Rick and Todd Kelly set to return to the wheel of their Nissan Altimas.

For Nissan Motorsport's second season in Australia's premiere motorsport category, the pair of distinctive black and white Altimas will sport a refined paint scheme, as well as a revised aerodynamics package, with changes made to the front bar and rear wing supports.

Outside of the aesthetic changes to the racecar, continuity is the key for the outfit, with a continuation of the same driver, chassis and sponsor package from 2013, which saw Rick Kelly claim a solid 14th in the final season standings.

Importantly for Jack Daniel's, this year marks its ninth successive season of major team sponsorship in the class, making the involvement one of the longest serving on the grid.

The first time the new-look Jack Daniel's Racing machines will be seen on track for 2014 will be this weekend at the Sydney.com Test Day at Sydney Motorsport Park, with the season proper commencing at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from February 27 to March 2.

JACK DANIEL'S RACING QUOTEBOARD

TODD KELLY - #7 Jack Daniel's Nissan Altima

"I'm very excited to be at the beginning of our second year, as the whole thing's quite an unknown for us," said Todd Kelly.

"We've had a pretty good crack at our first year, and we achieved a lot, in my opinion, when you consider the work that has gone on behind the scenes to develop the VK56 engine, and our first attempt at turning the Nissan Altima into a race car.

"All in all, it wasn't too bad a year last year. The guys have all been working extremely hard through the second half of last year, and especially through the offseason to develop a new aero kit for the car, which we haven't used on a race track yet.

"Hopefully that has given us the gain that we are looking for."

RICK KELLY - #15 Jack Daniel's Nissan Altima

"We've sat down with the team and analyzed our strengths and weaknesses, and what we have to do to improve ourselves, and the results that we've got, and we're ready to implement that now," said Rick Kelly.

"It's really exciting; the team have worked really hard over the summer, and the last six months in fact to develop and aero package that's going to be a lot stronger for us in 2014 than what we saw in 2013.

"To match that and to get the most out of that, we've got to do a better job in all of the other areas that it takes to be successful on the track.

"That's everything from engineering, to driving, to the strategy. For us, we're very excited that we have a new opportunity in 2014 and to make the most out of it."

MICHAEL McSHANE - Managing Director, Brown-Forman Australia & New Zealand

"Jack Daniel's is excited to continue its association with Nissan Motorsport for the 2014 V8 Supercar Championship.  Last year was a learning season for the team, and with that experience taken on board, we are looking forward to strong results in 2014," said Michael McShane.

"Both Rick and Todd are great sportsmen, role models, and ambassadors of the Jack Daniel's brand, and through their efforts over the years, they have continued to build our responsible drinking message in this vital market.

"V8 Supercar remains the pinnacle of motorsport in Australia, and we look forward to an exhilarating season ahead."

NISSAN MOTORSPORTS WINS AT WINTON IN SENSATIONAL QUINELLA!

NISSAN MOTORSPORTS WINS AT WINTON IN SENSATIONAL QUINELLA!

  • James Moffat first, Michael Caruso second in Norton Nissan Altima 1-2
  • Debut V8 Supercars Championship win for Nissan
  • Nissan's 29th Australian Touring Car Championship race win and first since Mark Skaife won at Oran Park Raceway on 21 June 1992 in a Nissan GT-R

WINTON, Australia - Nissan put itself on the V8 Supercars map at Winton Motor Raceway on the weekend, claiming its first race win in its return season to top-level Australian touring car racing.

James Moffat took his and the Nissan Altima's first race win in the V8 Supercars Championship last Saturday - the first Australian Touring Car race win for Nissan in 21 years.

It was the first time that Nissan has won an Australian Touring Car Championship race since Mark Skaife led home team-mate Jim Richards in the mighty Nissan GT-R (R32) at Oran Park on 21 June 1992.

To make the momentous occasion even better, Moffat led home fellow Norton-backed teammate Michael Caruso across the line, scoring a memorable one-two result.

The win came after a strong qualifying performance that saw Caruso claim second place on the grid behind three-time series champion Jamie Whincup. The qualifying result was a personal best for Caruso. Moffat started the race from third.
Whincup led the opening stages of the 40-lap 60/60 Super Sprint race, only to suffer a mechanical problem early on.
Caruso led the first home in the first part of the race, but at the re-start Moffat got the jump and led the remaining 20 laps.
Sunday's two races were not as fruitful for Nissan Motorsport, but the encouraging signs remain for the squad as it heads towards the all-important endurance races at Sandown, Bathurst and the Gold Coast.

Moffat continued his good form, finishing 11th and eighth and moving up to 13th place in the championship - the highest of the four Nissan Altima drivers.

Michael Caruso failed to finish both races after being taken out in separate incidents - the second of which was a clash with Craig Lowndes while running 10th. The incident saw Caruso spear into the fence with three corners of the race remaining. Lowndes was later penalized 25 championship points for his part in the crash.

Todd Kelly took a best of 14th place, but had his weekend spoiled by a clash with the wall after contact with Jamie Whincup.
Rick Kelly finished 14th and 22nd in the first two races of the weekend before an incident with Mark Winterbottom saw him fail to finish the third race as a result of rear suspension damage.

The next event of the V8 Supercars Championship will be the first of the 2013 endurance races - the Wilson Security Sandown 500 on September 13-15.

"I've worked hard to get to this point in my career and to breakthrough for my first win means a lot," said James Moffat.

"What a great day for everyone at Nissan Motorsport, Norton and Toshiba. It's all a bit of a dream at the moment.

"I really tried to come into this event without many expectations. Naturally, if we were going to go well at any circuit, this was the one. It's our test track, and I was very happy with the way we ended our test day, but I wasn't getting carried away, because we know how finicky this track can be.

"I wasn't prepared to get too far ahead of myself, and even when we were quickest yesterday, I was keeping a lid on it.

"This result speaks for itself. We're one-two in both races. Sure, Jamie had a bit of bad luck, but both of us proved we had great pace."

Race 27 qualifying: 21st
Race 27 result: DNF
Championship position: 22nd

"This is brilliant for our whole team. The Norton cars finishing one-two, it's fantastic," said Michael Caruso.

"We knew we'd come into this event looking better than we have in the previous rounds. We're all wise enough to know that this circuit has no advantage for the cars with big horsepower. The Nissans have been handling really well and we've shown that throughout the year.

"It's a credit to everyone at the team, and our engineering guys are working hard and it's paying off."

Rick Kelly - #15 Jack Daniel's Nissan Altima
Race 25 qualifying: 14th

Race 26 qualifying: 23rd
Race 26 result: 22nd
Race 27 qualifying: 22nd

"It's a little bit of a dream come true, we'd love for the JD cars to be up there, but for the Norton Nissan to achieve that when we still are a bit slow in a straight line is absolutely incredible," said Rick Kelly.

"We knew coming into this weekend it was about qualifying and those two guys nailed that part of it and were able to do consistent laps in the race and get the reward for doing that.

"A huge congratulations to the whole team, the last 18 months for us have been extremely tough, the guys with their families and everything with the workload has been tough on everyone, so congratulations to everyone in the team and thanks for the effort, because today it paid off."

Race 26 qualifying: 15th
Race 26 result: 14th

"It doesn't get much better than that, for a team that's only eight months old to have had its first win and a one-two at the same time, it doesn't get much better than that at all," said Todd Kelly.

"Well done to the boys. We always knew if we were going to have a chance it would be here. We'll try and get a bit of momentum out of this for the rest of the year."

EDMUNDS.COM VOTES THE NISSAN ALTIMA ONE OF THE “17 BEST CARS YOU CAN BUY!”

EDMUNDS.COM VOTES THE NISSAN ALTIMA ONE OF THE "17 BEST CARS YOU CAN BUY!" - Edging out the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord to be named Best Midsize Sedan!

REPRINT OF THEIR Aug. 19, 2013 ARTICLE:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Earlier this week, the 2013 Nissan Altima was selected the Best Midsize Sedan in Edmunds.com's "17 Best Cars You Can Buy" list. The list, a new Edmunds.com feature this year, was created to select vehicles that are simply "the best, period" in each class.

Edmunds.com editors selected the 2013 Altima for its outstanding fuel economy (39.7 mpg in Edmunds' 116-mile test loop), a powertrain blending "speed and efficiency," easy-to-use technology and an overall "balance between refinement and engagement." With an already-impressive list of accolades - including its recent selection as the Most Ideal Mid-Size Car in Auto Pacific' 2013 Ideal Vehicle Awards - the awards keep coming for the 2013 Altima.

"With the redesign of the 2013 Altima, we set out to be the best mid-size sedan in the marketplace," said Fred Diaz, divisional vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing, Service & Parts, Nissan North America. "The combination of 38 mpg fuel economy, sleek styling and abundant technology makes the new and improved Altima the best overall package in the segment, and we're thrilled for the third-party validation from Edmunds.com."

The Nissan Altima continues to be one of the top selling mid-size sedans in the United States. Among the 2013 Altima's many attributes are tremendous standard fuel economy of 38 mpg highway* (2.5-liter engine model only), new premium exterior styling with a strong presence and excellent aerodynamics, an upscale interior with premium materials and an outstanding balance of ride comfort, stability and a fun-to-drive demeanor.

The fifth-generation Altima also offers standard Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System and Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®. Also available for model year 2014 are NissanConnectSM and NissanConnectSM Navigation with a suite of Bluetooth® phone connectivity features including hands-free text message integration (SiriusXM™ subscription required, sold separately); along with Easy Fill Tire Alert and next-generation Safety Shield Technologies, including Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Moving Object Detection (MOD) systems.

Dynamic performance is provided by a choice of a redesigned 182-horsepower 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine or a proven 270-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, with both engines mated to a standard Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission). The premium interior design looks and feels a class above, with new NASA-inspired "zero-gravity" front seats, available leather appointments and a new standard Advanced Drive-Assist™ Display in the center of the instrument cluster that integrates key information - including available navigation, text messaging notification and audio data - right in front of the driver.

* 2013 EPA fuel estimate for Altima 2.5S 38 MPG hwy. Actual mileage may vary.

**Cal emissions (PZEV) equipment causes nominal reductions in horsepower. PZEV vehicles are available in California and some northeastern states.

THE NEW 2014 ALTIMA

THE NEW 2014 ALTIMA MAKES THE TOYOTA CAMRY AND HONDA ACCORD GREEN WITH ENVY!

Look out San Diego, The new 2014 Nissan Altima will launch later this month! This ravishing road warrior is making the critics applaud and the competition sweat! Check why this bold new beauty is turning heads!

DESIGN

WE MADE A BIG DEAL, EVEN OF THE LITTLE THINGS
Detailed. Right down to the details.

Chrome's appeal lies in its deeply reflective qualities. Even distant objects look as sharp reflected in chrome as they would if you were looking at them directly. A fine point admittedly, but it shows you how much thought we put into even the smallest details, starting with our badge. Just wait 'til you see what we did to the rest.

PREMIUM SPACE. PREMIUM SPACIOUSNESS.
Luxury interior design.

We softened the edges, sculpted the lines and took the idea of open space inside. Then we quieted everything down. The result - a serene cabin of unexpected spaciousness and luxury, where premium materials combine to create an atmosphere of class that is simply a class above.

PERFORMANCE

GO. OR JUST GO FARTHER.
Outstanding acceleration. Incredible efficiency.

You've got choices. You can go with Nissan's legendary 3.5-liter, 270-hp V6 that treats you to sports-car style performance even while it sips fuel at an impressive 31 MPG on the highway. [*] Or you can go with the class-leading 38 MPG highway provided by the spirited 182-hp 4-cylinder.

NEXT-GENERATION XTRONIC CVT®

The Altima's CVT virtually eliminates gears by using a single metal belt that runs around a pair of variable-diameter pulleys. Once a transmission isn't limited by fixed gears, it can operate far more effectively. So whatever your right foot asks for, CVT responds with the perfect engine speed.

ALTIMA LOVES CORNERS...
Active understeer control

Altima's Active Understeer Control system sets even the sharpest turn straight. It works by braking the inside wheels for better control through corners for a more confident feel behind the wheel.

370Z CORNERS...
Redesigned rear suspension

Altima's 370Z®-inspired multilink rear suspension has been designed to deliver instant steering response and maximum tire contact for handling that'll tackle the passing lane as easily as the carpool lane.

EUROPEAN LUXURY CAR CORNERS
ZF Sachs shocks

Altima comes equipped with ZF Sachs shock absorbers. You know, like the ones found on luxury cars from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche... Yeah, those ones.

PERFORMANCE RIPPED
Lighter. Faster. Stronger.

We gave Altima class-leading highway fuel economy [*] and powerful acceleration. How did we do it? We put it on a diet. The engine, body, and chassis are all lighter, and we slimmed down the aerodynamics. The result-hit the gas and Altima will propel you from 0-60 faster than you can say "hang on".

PUREDRIVE™

Altima is one of a select group of Nissan vehicles to wear the PUREDRIVE™ badge. PUREDRIVE™ is a key part of our commitment to achieve lower levels of CO2 emissions. The technology focuses on improving fuel efficiencies and reducing CO2 emissions. And that's something we all can smile about.

STREET SMARTS
Intelligent technology

What if your car could tell you when its tires had enough air? If it warmed itself up or cooled itself down for you without you even being there? Or turned on the headlights automatically in the rain? Would you call it smart, or simply brilliant?

CLEVER, RIGHT DOWN TO YOUR COCCYX
Zero Gravity Seats

NASA research determined the posture astronauts naturally take in the weightlessness of space. Nissan Engineering used this research to develop front seats that optimize comfort and reduce fatigue. Thanks for the tip guys.

TECHNOLOGY

NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF WHAT'S IMPORTANT
Advanced Drive-Assist® Display

From optional turn-by-turn navigation, to caller ID, the Advanced Drive-Assist® Display does it for you in one central location. It's specially designed to make it easy for you to get info quickly, allowing you to focus on what matters most-driving.

CONNECTED TO MORE THAN THE ROAD

NissanConnect™ uses hands-free technology, your smartphone, and your Nissan's display screen to help you stay in touch with the outside world from inside your vehicle. It's loaded with features and a growing list of apps that let you play your music, keep tabs on your social network, and navigate any city like a local.

NOW, EVEN TRAFFIC JAMS HAVE A FAST LANE
SiriusXM Traffic

Take the road less travelled. Literally. SiriusXM Traffic gives you traffic updates, suggesting alternate routes that help you avoid delays due to roadwork, accidents, or pesky congested highways.

FRONT-ROW SEATS TO MUSIC YOU ?
iHeartRadio for Auto (Late availability)

It's got all that jazz, country, rock, urban, and pop... Access over 1,500 live stations from coast-to-coast, or create your own station based on your favorite artist. With the Discovery Tuner, customize the level of variety you want. Listen to new music, play only songs you know and love, or get a bit of both.

TALK FOR A MILE, A MINUTE, OR MORE.
Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant

Want to reply to a text message? No need to reach for your phone. The Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant keeps you connected through voice recognition technology. [*] So just talk to send a text, or use the available Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System to make a call without diverting your attention.

ALTIMA'S GOT YOUR BACK...
Safety Shield Technologies

Altima includes over 50 safety features specifically designed to take care of you. Standard air bags, six of them, are there to help protect everyone on board. [*] No one could forget the kids, so every Altima includes the LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) for easier child seat installation.

...AND READY TO LIGHT THE WAY FORWARD.
Enhanced headlights

Automatic headlights respond to light conditions outside. And if your wipers are on so are the headlights - automatically after 4 swipes. Illuminated driving courtesy of Altima.

Your exclusive pass to your Altima

The Nissan Intelligent Key lets you tap a button on the door handle or trunk to unlock them while your keys stay in your pocket or purse. And the available Remote Engine Start System [*] lets you warm up or cool down your Altima before you get in.

The REDBOOK Auto Awards

The REDBOOK Auto Awards - NISSAN'S TOP THE LIST

Cars are usually judged by men, for men. No more! Two of the top 9 top picks are Nissans, packed with perks the guy gearheads might have overlooked. Of course we care about safety, gas mileage, and cost-but let's be real: We also need good light for putting on makeup and a way to keep the kids from kicking the back of our seat. These are the cars that women will want.

The high-tech helper
2013 Nissan Altima

Pricing: Starting at $21,760 for a 2013; a 2010 will run you just over $14,000.

We love it because: The built-in gadgets are also useful. We're all for advanced technology, as long as it's not too geeky to be practical. The 2013 Nissan Altima, which has surprisingly cutting-edge technology for a car at this price, solves all kinds of problems for you: like, the headlights automatically go on when you turn on the windshield wipers. And the car will alert you when you veer from your lane or another car enters your blind spot. And lastly, there are the new "zero-gravity" bucket seats: Designed with help from NASA research, they feel (almost) like you're driving along suspended in midair, which nixes aches and fatigue from long hauls.

The relationship saver
2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Pricing: Starting at $28,650 for a 2013; a 2010 is just under $19,000.

We love it because: Nobody wants to break up over the car. The Pathfinder keeps the peace. Here's why: You can get memory settings for exterior mirrors, driver's seat, steering wheel, and audio/navigation settings. This means your husband will quit grumbling when he has to drive after you with your "short little legs." The seven-passenger SUV also has the option for separate temperature and audio controls for the front and back seats, so there's no more fighting over the air or the music.
