Curvy, dramatic styling mimics bigger brother Maxima and gives the Altima an upscale vibe. Engine choices are either a 182-hp 2.5-liter four or a 270-hp 3.5-liter V-6, both with a CVT. The SR infuses a little fun by adding stiffer suspension tuning, paddle shifters, and unique wheels. Forward emergency braking with adaptive cruise control creates a robust active-safety bundle. Overall, the Altima is a capable sedan with a decent options list and a roomy, comfortable cabin.

Two years in a row, across all scoring regiments, the Nissan Pathfinder takes the cake as KBB’s Best family size crossover for the price and performance. Nice and roomy, with space for seven adults this three row cub is anything but compact. The 2015 Pathfinder comes with a more advanced transmission from previous models, with d-shift or CVT transition v6. With 27 MPG this SUV goes on and off roading year round!

When Nissan brought me its most affordable hatchback, the 2014 Versa Note, earlier this year I found myself impressed with its nimbleness, abundant interior space great features despite its bargain price. In general I recommended it as a great bargain runabout. For 2015, Nissan has the new sportier looking Versa Note SR, and the automaker sent it my way for a week of testing (read: flogging). The new car has revised visual cues inside and out, and the equipment list is a little different than my last Versa. Best yet, it's even a little cheaper than the last one I tested as well.
