The 2014 Nissan 370Z Coupe

The 2014 Nissan 370Z Coupe

A DESIGN MORE THAN 40 YEARS IN THE MAKING

It's a living legend. With the emphasis on living. The iconic lines, low center of gravity, wide track, and short wheelbase give it that unmistakable, instantly recognizable profile.

DRIVER OBSESSED COCKPIT

The 370Z® employs a three-layer design philosophy that makes you feel completely connected the instant you sit down.

STORAGE FOR THE REAL WORLD

Trunk Space

The rear cargo area offers plenty of open space for the important things in lif - like golf clubs. An available retractable cargo cover helps keep things out of sight. Inside the cabin, clever built-in storage means everything has a place, and a hidden compartment behind the passenger's seat helps conceal valuables.

IT'S NOT A CAR, IT'S AN EXPERIENCE

332-hp 3.7-L V6.

The 370Z® is powered by a 332-horsepower, 3.7-liter V6. The engine features Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL®) technology that continuously tunes valve timing for quicker response and optimal fuel efficiency. All this engineering may sound intriguing on paper, but the exhilaration from idle to the 7,500-rpm redline is pure magic.

MAY THE G-FORCE BE WITH YOU

Handling & Brakes

A low center of gravity and a wide stance give it ultra-responsive handling and enhanced cornering. The relatively short wheelbase and overall length of the 370Z® make for incredible maneuverability. But you still need to stop, so the most powerful 370Z® Coupe ever has available 14" front rotors and the gripping power of 4-piston front calipers.

Aerodynamics

All 370Z® models feature zero front lift. If you're after even more performance, go with the Sport Package. It includes a lower front chin aero deflector and rear spoiler for zero rear lift.

Smart Engineering

To harness all 332 hp, our engineers improved the design and material composites for key rotating components. The available 19" RAYS® forged alloy wheels are stronger and lighter than typical cast wheels. And the reduced-rotating mass on the lighter, incredibly strong carbon-fiber composite driveshaft helps the engine rev more quickly.

A SHIFT IN CONSCIOUSNESS

SynchroRev Match® Manual Transmission

SynchroRev technology monitors the clutch, shift lever, and vehicle speed so that when you downshift, the system "blips" the throttle to the ideal engine rpm for a supremely smooth downshift. It also works when upshifting to give you seamless acceleration. If you want more traditional performance, you can turn the system off with the touch of a button.

7-speed Automatic Transmission

A 7-speed automatic transmission gives you the best of a manual and an automatic—a wide spread of gearing for heart-pounding acceleration, while still providing improved efficiency and quiet cruising at higher speeds.

350 HP WITH ATTITUDE

Its name is synonymous with passion, expertise, and especially the height of Nissan performance. NISMO® puts it all into everything it builds, from championship-winning racecars and accessories for street cars, to one of the world's most desirable sports cars—370Z® NISMO®. With bumped up power and pumped-up handling, it has transformed into a sports car singularly worthy of being branded NISMO®.

THE SOUND OF PERFORMANCE

Dual Exhaust

A free-flow dual exhaust combined with H-pipe configuration reduces back pressure up to 30%. The result: responsive upper-end power for an exhilarating redline rush and an exhaust note that's pure performance.

SERIOUS POWER

Engine

Combine the Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL®) technology with a free-flowing dual exhaust to reduce back pressure and ultimately increase high-end power. Listen to the deep, mellow rumble turn into an unmistakable battle cry as it revs to its 7,400 RPM redline. Feel the exhilaration of responsive power that proves this 370Z® is truly for the pure performance aficionado.

Get to Know the All New 2014 Nissan Juke

Get to Know the All New 2014 Nissan Juke

The JUKE's combination of highly individual styling, strong driving dynamics and sophisticated interior equipment has allowed it storm from zero to 420,000 sales in less than 40 months, easily eclipsing its rivals.

Already recognized as the design trend-setter, the new JUKE benefits from a series of design enhancements, new engines, new equipment and a wide-ranging personalization program.

Among the changes are a new design at the front and rear with greater emphasis on both premium refinement and sporty design cues; a new downsized 1.2-liter turbocharged engine offering greater performance, economy and lower emissions; a revised 1.6-liter DIG-T engine; improved four-wheel drive with Torque Vectoring System; new alloy wheels; advanced equipment including a new audio system, the latest generation NissanConnect driver-vehicle interface, Nissan Safety Shield, Nissan's Dynamic Control system, plus the option of a new opening glass roof.

JUKE is the best seller in the premium B-segment, outperforming all direct competitors including those from the top German brands. And it's not just the entry-level models which have helped JUKE to the top: the best selling engine to date has been the 1.6-liter petrol unit while the top Tekna grade accounts for more than one third of all sales.

Exterior

Bold design has always set the JUKE apart from any rival, offering a mixture of crossover toughness with sporting appeal that has seen it become a design icon.

To radically alter the proportions would undermine the JUKE's unmistakable presence, but designers have still managed to make significant changes to the car's styling.

At the front, the upper lamps have been redesigned and now incorporate bi-intensity LED daytime running lamps while the headlamps now have Xenon bulbs for better visibility and new lens covers. The grille incorporates the new Nissan brand signature while the front has been toughened with new and more robust trim beneath the bumper.

Door mirrors have been revised to include LED side turn strip repeaters and, where fitted, cameras for the Around View Monitor.

At the rear the bumper has a more aggressive shape to match new revised boomerang tail lamps with LED light guide technology, giving the new JUKE a more distinctive appearance at night.

The new color palette now extends to ten colors and includes three new shades: Sunlight Yellow metallic, Ink Blue metallic and solid Red.

A new range of wheels completes the exterior revisions, with 16-inch steel and alloys available on entry-level Visia models and different styles of 17-inch alloys on Acenta and Tekna variants. A new 18-inch alloy wheel will also be available with colored inserts available allowing drivers to add their personal touch.

In addition, the extensive new personalization packs include the opportunity to add drama with brightly colored inserts, which completely change the look and feel of the wheels. Different packs also allow contrasting colors to be applied to the mirror caps, side sills, roof spoiler and door handles.

Interior personalization

In the same way that the exterior styling differentiates JUKE from anything else on the road, so the interior has a number of distinctive features, including the center console inspired by a motorbike. And again, changing these features for the sake of it would be counter-productive.

Instead Nissan designers have found ways to make the interior even bolder and more dynamic with different interior themes. In standard cars, the interior theme is a sophisticated grey, giving a technical feel to the car. Add one of the interior personalization packs and features such as the center console, door trims and other elements can be colored red, white, black or even a bright yellow.

Depending on the model, there are two styles of fabric for the seat upholstery - comfort and sport - with leather trim on top versions.

Practicality

Changes have also been made to the shape of the trunk area in two-wheel drive models to boost luggage space by an impressive 40 percent, taking the overall capacity to a class-leading 354 liters - unlike rivals, JUKE can carry a large and a medium suitcase at the same time, and is also deep and wide enough to carry a chassis-type pushchair.

Versatility is further enhanced with flat folding rear seat, making it easier to load large objects, while the inclusion of a two-stage floor in the luggage area makes the space even more flexible.

Equipment

Standard equipment on all models includes LED daytime running lamps, CD radio with an AUX-In socket, gear shift indicator to promote a more efficient driving style and tire pressure monitor. The Visia 1.5 dCi and 1.6 Pack versions add alloy wheels, manual air conditioning, drive computer and driver seat height adjustment.

Acenta models are enhanced with front fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning, remote audio controls, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio streaming, cruise control and limiter, Nissan Dynamic Control System and chrome interior touches.

Enhances for the new JUKE, Nissan Dynamic Control is an advanced driver control system giving the choice of three different driving modes - Normal, Sport or Eco - along with instant driving information and vehicle setting controls.

Tekna models add power folding door mirrors, light and rain sensors, i-Key with Start/Stop and the latest NissanConnect with rear-view parking/reversing camera, Around View Monitor and Safety Shield.

NissanConnect now offers smartphone connectivity with access to a variety of apps ranging from social media platforms to entertainment including Internet radio through a large, 5.8-inch color touch screen. The latest generation satellite navigation system integrates with Google® to reveal a host of useful information from weather forecasts to the location of fuel stations, hotels, restaurants and many other points of interest.

A send-to-car function also allows drivers to search for their destination at home and send destination instructions to NissanConnect system at the click of a button. The system includes Bluetooth audio streaming and mobile phone integration as well as Aux-in and USB slots.

When not in infotainment mode, the screen doubles as a monitor for the newest version of Nissan's pioneering Around View Monitor which gives a complete real-time 360 degree ‘helicopter' view around the car to make maneuvering as safe and easy as possible. Using the AVM cameras together with sensors, radar and other advanced technology, JUKE's Safety Shield incorporates a number of features engineered to make the car as safe as possible. These include Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Moving Object Detection, which gives visual and audible warnings to avoid potential collisions.

The final option opens a whole new world to Acenta and Tekna owners, literally. A large open-able glass panel allows not just daylight to flood into the cabin but also fresh air as required. When opened, the panel sits on top of the rear portion of the roof so as not to steal interior headroom. The glass panel measures 964mm wide by 837mm long to cover two thirds of the roof area. This is matched by an opening width of 693mm and an opening length of 301mm to add to the feeling of airiness in the cockpit.

Engines and drivetrains

Three engines are available for new JUKE in Europe, with changes to the two petrol options: one is new and the other extensively revised. The existing and acclaimed 1.5 dCi diesel with 110ps (81kW) continues unchanged.

The Alliance-developed 1.2-liter DIG-T petrol engine, which replaces the outgoing 117ps 1.6-liter unit, is an advanced turbocharged direct injection engine delivering 115ps (85kW) and generating 190Nm of torque.

Despite its modest size, the 1.2-liter (1197cc) turbocharged engine packs a real punch, offering sharper acceleration and greater torque (190Nm) for added flexibility than the outgoing 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine.

Its lower weight, standard automatic Stop/Start feature and more fuel-efficient operation translates into cleaner and more economical performance. The 1.2 DIG-T engine emits 126g/km* of CO2 and has a fuel consumption figure of 5.5 l/100km*.

The existing 1.6 DIG-T petrol unit has been further improved to deliver lower end torque below 2,000rpm. Producing 140kW, it is already Euro6 compliant with target emissions of 139g/km of CO2 for the 2WD versions. Among its new features are a higher combustion ratio (increased from 9.5 to 10.5:1), improved low friction technologies and cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation.

As well as a six-speed manual transmission, new JUKE 1.6 DIG-T 4WD is optionally available with a new Xtronic transmission gearbox, which further improves fuel efficiency, acceleration and all-round performance.

"New JUKE builds on the qualities that made the original such a success. Its unique crossover styling is even more energetic, and the interior makes a real statement.

"The new drivetrain options and advanced technology on offer to the driver keep new JUKE ahead of the rest," said Guillaume Cartier.

Datsun is Back

Datsun is Back

    • First customer of the 21st century will take delivery on March 19, 2014, in India
    • All new car brand with a 100-year heritage

YOKOHAMA, Japan - On March 19, the first Datsun cars sold in the 21st century will be delivered to customers in India. It fulfills a promise made two years ago to bring back the marque that made car ownership mainstream in Japan and numerous other countries, and now returns as the brand of choice for the risers in today's high-growth markets.

The first 21st century Datsun customers will be in India. They will be taking to the roads in their new Datsun GO exactly one hundred years from the launch of the first ever DAT car, in Japan. Over that century, Datsun went on to sell more than 20 million vehicles in 190 countries.

The keys to the new Datsun's will be handed over at celebration events planned for March 19 and March 20 in the Indian cities of Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata.

The Datsun GO will be offered through a network of more than 120 Datsun dealer outlets across the country. Detailed pricing will be announced on March 19th. As disclosed earlier, Nissan Motor Private India Limited will distribute Datsun vehicles in India.

Datsun is expanding rapidly around the world. New Datsun models will be introduced in Indonesia, Russia and South Africa later this year.

About Datsun

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced the return of the Datsun brand, Nissan's third global brand, alongside Nissan and Infiniti, in March 2012. Datsun will provide a sustainable motoring experience to optimistic up-and-coming customers in high-growth markets. Datsun represents 80 years of accumulated Japanese car-making expertise and is an important part of Nissan's DNA. Datsun vehicles will start sales in India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa from 2014.

Datsun History

Datsun originated in Japan as DAT-GO (the DAT-car) almost a century ago in 1914. The word DAT means "lightning-fast" in Japanese but is also a reference to the first letters of family names of the three financiers who supported the business at the time: Den, Aoyama and Takeuchi. Using the same logic, it was promoted as Durable, Attractive and Trustworthy, or DAT for short.

In 1933, Nissan's founding father Yoshisuke Aikawa took over the business with a vision of "mobility for all." The introduction of a lightweight, economical yet resilient car to meet the aspirations of young Japanese people in the early 1930s was named the "son of DAT" – Datson - which later changed to Datsun. Local engineering and mass-production made the founder's dream a reality.

Cars.com selects Nissan Sentra and Versa sedan to its “Top 10 Cheapest New Cars You Can Buy” list

Cars.com selects Nissan Sentra and Versa sedan to its "Top 10 Cheapest New Cars You Can Buy" list

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - For Nissan, affordability meets uncompromised fuel efficiency and modern technology. This week, Cars.com, the leading online resource for buying and selling new and used cars, recognized two Nissan vehicles – Sentra and Versa Sedan – in its "Top 10 Cheapest New Cars You Can Buy" list, which identifies vehicles with the lowest sticker price and fuel costs on the market. Nissan was the only manufacturer with more than one vehicle on the list.

The 2014 Nissan Versa Sedan S Plus ranked third on the list with a starting price of $13,790** and 35 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy. The 2014 Nissan Sentra S with Xtronic transmission finished tenth with a starting price of $16,790** and 34 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy.
To create the list, Cars.com editors calculated sticker price and destination fees plus eight year fuel cost to decide which vehicles deliver the biggest "financial bang for your hard-earned buck." With starting price and eight-year fuel cost combined, the Sentra totaled $29,247, and the Versa Sedan amounted to $25,914. The last time Cars.com ran this test was in 2008, when the 2008 Versa placed sixth with a total cost of $30,002. While the price remains remarkably low, the fuel efficiency and technological advancement of the vehicles – including available technologies such as Bluetooth® and NissanConnect™ with Navigation – are as impressive as ever.
"Both Sentra and Versa Sedan feature notable fuel economy, advanced technology options, and an economical starting price that even the most frugal buyers can appreciate," said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. "In addition to impressive fuel economy and advanced technology, Sentra features a high-quality interior design with soft-touch instrument panel and door armrests, while Versa Sedan offers the most rear legroom in its class*. We're providing our buyers more for each dollar they pay, and we're honored to be recognized by Cars.com."
The affordable Nissan Sentra compact sedan offers a "class above" look and feel inside and out, along with refined performance and features. Its fuel-efficient 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine helps deliver 34 mpg combined highway/city fuel economy and a more than 415-mile real-world driving range. Available technology includes NissanConnectTM with Navigation and NissanConnectTM Apps smartphone integration for iPhone® and Android, Bose® Premium audio system with eight speakers, Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System and RearView Monitor.
The popular Nissan Versa Sedan continues to redefine entry-level car value. It combines a sophisticated exterior design, well-appointed interior and exceptional room for five adults – including more rear legroom than some mid-size sedans. Versa Sedan is marked by innovations such as an available affordable integrated navigation system and standard 1.6-liter engine with an advanced dual fuel injection system, which helps produce 40 mpg highway fuel economy. Versa Sedan is offered in four models: S, S Plus, SV and SL.

Nissan unrivalled with their crossover family at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show!

Nissan unrivalled with their crossover family at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show!

ROLLE, Switzerland - Nissan's command of the European crossover segment is further reinforced at the 84th Geneva Motor Show with the brand's unrivalled crossover family taking center stage. The all-new X-Trail and all-new Qashqai highlight Nissan's ongoing crossover development, which will be strengthened by the arrival of another next-generation model in Geneva.

The 2014 Geneva Motor Show also showcases Nissan's diverse innovation. From the world debut of the zero-emissions e-NV200 to the European premiere of the GT-R NISMO, Nissan is demonstrating its unrivalled passion for design, engineering and innovation.
Corporate update
Record levels of demand for its advanced and technologically innovative products, plus a raft of new or revised vehicles, means that Nissan will build more cars, crossovers and light commercial vehicles than ever at its European plants in 2014. Existing high levels of demand for class-leading vehicles such as the Nissan Qashqai and the all-electric Nissan LEAF, and a significant second all-electric vehicle, e-NV200, means that Nissan will be using even more of the production capacity at its plants in the UK, Spain and Russia. And there's more to come.  The significance of Nissan's European manufacturing plants cannot be underestimated: Last year, some 80 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in Europe were built in Europe. In the 30 years since manufacturing began in the region, Europe has built more than 10 million Nissan vehicles.
New X-Trail
Now fully integrated into Nissan's crossover range, the all-new X-Trail combines advanced 4x4 capabilities with a host of design and engineering features that have become hallmarks of Nissan crossovers. The new model also introduces a number of innovative new-to-sector technologies such as bi-LED headlamps, Nissan Safety Shield and a fully integrated third-generation NissanConnect navigation and infotainment system.
Built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance Common Module Family platform, the all-new X-Trail also offers significantly improved practicality, with a new "theater-style" seating layout, sliding second row of seats and fully integrated third row of seats with improved leg and headroom.
As a result of this complete redesign and re-engineering process, the new X-Trail completes what is the most comprehensive and capable SUV crossover line-ups in the industry.

e-NV200 production premiere
Nissan is set to continue its dominance of the electric vehicle sector with the introduction of the e-NV200, which brings unprecedented refinement, with zero emissions and ultra-low running costs. Combining the best elements of two multi-award winning vehicles – Nissan LEAF and Nissan NV200, past World Car of the Year and International Van of the Year respectively – e-NV200 is ready to change the face of the city.
The e-NV200's high performance pure electric drivetrain, based on that used in the acclaimed Nissan LEAF, is allied to the class-leading cargo volume of theNV200 to create a practical and versatile vehicle capable of carrying people or goods while producing neither exhaust emissions nor noise pollution. When sales start in Europe in May, e-NV200 will be available as a van or as a five-seat people carrier in Combi or more luxurious Evalia guises. Although mainly targeted at businesses, e-NV200 will also appeal to private users with large families.
GT-R NISMO
Making its European debut in production form, the mighty Nissan GT-R NISMO is the fastest and most advanced Nissan performance production car ever. Honed to perfection on the legendary Nürburgring Norsdschleife – where it holds the lap record for a volume production car – the new GT-R NISMO perfectly embodies the spirit of the NISMO brand, delivering breathtaking performance.
The new GT-R NISMO is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that has been extensively modified by NISMO engineers. Combined with a revised aerodynamic package that generates an additional 100kg of downforce and a bespoke suspension set-up fine-tuned in Europe, it makes the latest GT-R the most remarkable to date.
Nissan BladeGlider concept
Shown to a European audience for the first time at Geneva, the bold new BladeGlider concept challenges conventional thinking on performance car design. Inspired by Nissan's innovative ZEOD RC Zero Emission on Demand race car – set to take part in the 2014 Le Mans 24hr race under the event's "Garage 56" rules – the BladeGlider features radical narrow front-track design layout that creates a distinctive swept-wing shape when viewed from above. Featuring perfect weight distribution thanks to the placement of the lithium ion batteries and in-board motors between the rear wheels, the BladeGlider optimizes power delivery with significantly reduced stresses at the front of the vehicle.

New Qashqai
Celebrating one of the most successful launches in Nissan history, the all-new Qashqai is set to be a major draw at the Geneva Motor Show. Ushering in a new era in crossover design, the second-generation model has attracted unprecedented interest from motorists and the world's press. With production now fully underway at Nissan's record-breaking Sunderland (UK) plant, the new Qashqai demonstrates Nissan's leadership in the crossover sector with numerous sector-first technologies and a host of innovative and practical design features. These include Nissan Safety Shield - a suite of safety systems that combine to deliver one of the most comprehensive protection packages in the industry - and the latest NissanConnect system with full smartphone integration.

Year of Change in SUPER GT in Japan

Year of Change in SUPER GT in Japan

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Nissan has traditionally won the championship in SUPER GT racing when debuting a new car, and if so, this season should be a banner year.

The monocoque, transmission, brakes, shock absorbers and fuel tank - about 70 percent of the new GT500 Class car - will be common to all cars in the series, based on the same new technical regulations as the DTM (German Touring Car Championship).

Teams can develop engines, and new regulations will allow manufacturers to freely develop the aerodynamic characteristics of their cars, of keen interest to fans and enthusiasts in the upcoming 2014 SUPER GT500 Class race series.

Minimum weight restrictions may be lighter than previous years due to the new engines for the GT500 Class. Direct injection, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged motors will be used, replacing the familiar sounds of the V-8 engines.

The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 with the new engine and newly developed aerodynamics broke the course record for GT500 cars at Sepang Circuit in Malaysia during winter testing.

Expectations of faster average lap times of one to two seconds are raising expectations for the season's Round 1, beginning April 5-6 at Okayama Circuit in western Japan.

Nissan Teams competing for the championship in the GT500 class include the #23 MOTUL AUTECH GT-R, #12 Calsonic IMPUL GT-R, #24 D'Station ADVAN GT-R, and the #46 S Road MOLA GT-R.

The new livery for the #23 car was displayed at Nissan Global Headquarters in Yokohama on Sunday along with drivers and teams for the upcoming 2014 season.

In the above video, Yutaka Suzuki, NISMO General Manager for Race Engineering, discusses the new rule changes and the upcoming 2014 SUPER GT Race Series.

Nissan IDx Concept Tour Drives Through SoCal

Nissan IDx Concept Tour Drives Through SoCal

LOS ANGELES – After debuting in Tokyo and playing in Detroit, the acclaimed Nissan IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO concepts held a three-date tour on the West Coast. It was a super-charged string of venues worthy of the world's biggest rock bands, at least in the auto-enthusiast world.

Along Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, once described as the "coolest block in America" by GQ magazine, fans of the concepts were able to get up close and personal with the cars, including speaking with designers and providing Nissan with feedback about whether to bring the vehicles to market.

"Part of being here is to get more reception from the public and the people who we designed it for so we can figure out a way to make it," said Gio Arroba, Nissan Creative Design Manager.

After a night of partying in Venice, the IDx siblings had an early-morning call with legendary "Cars & Coffee" enthusiasts in Irvine. This is where thousands of car lovers get together every Saturday morning to ogle cars and talk motors in the heart of Orange County, Calif. Surrounded by some of the world's finest exotic machinery, the IDx Freeflow and NISMO clearly were the event's headliners with their own distinct style and presence.

There was a final appearance on Saturday for Nissan's hot concepts at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. It was part of the "Inside the MotoMan Studio" event. This time the concepts were sharing the stage with automotive journalist George Notaras and legendary racecar driver Peter Brock. Brock, the "B" of BRE racing, whose Datsun 510s won Trans-Am championships in 1971 and '72, had his own connection to the IDx NISMO concept.

"It is a beautiful design, the lines on it are so subtle and so well done. It has a very upscale feel to it. There is nothing really super bright or brashy about the car. This is a car that you can live with for a long time because it has a certain elegance that you would be proud to own," said Brock.

Before packing up, the last stop for the IDx concepts on Sunday was the "Supercar Sunday" enthusiast gathering in Woodland Hills, just about an hour north of Los Angeles. This tour of Southern California now has more car lovers dreaming of "what if?" … and hoping that "when so" comes sooner rather than later.

Nissan Rogue Takes to the Track – the Ice Track!

Nissan Rogue Takes to the Track - the Ice Track!

MONTREAL, Canada - Winter has been unrelenting throughout the U.S. and Canada this year. There certainly was no exception to be found in Montreal, a southwest city in the Canadian province of Quebec.

The very low temperatures and snowy conditions made it perfect timing for Nissan to invite Canadian journalists to Quebec's Laurentian mountains. Once there, the company's guests got to take the all-new Rogue for a spin on the ice-covered Mecaglisse circuit, which is part of a purpose-built, 700-acre all-season motorsports facility located in Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci.

"There is no better place, even in Canada," said Christian Meunier, president, Nissan Canada. "We were looking for a special location to show the journalists what it is like to drive the Rogue in the true Canadian winter."

The Mecaglisse circuit represents the most extreme situation that a driver could encounter from a traction point of view.  It is a great place to highlight the advantages of Rogue's advanced all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

"It is not only just about AWD, the wheels powering down. It is also about the steering, the braking and how all of Rogue's systems come together to deliver a confident ride and driving experience," said Tim Franklin, Product Planning, Nissan Canada.

The Rogue impressed even the most experienced winter drivers, including the co-owner of the track and facility, Franck Kirchhoff.  "I drove this car yesterday, and even if you drive without studs, only on regular winter tires, you really feel the car, and the handling is really good. I drive many cars during the winter, and I feel the Rogue is one of the best SUVs that you can get."

If the winter of 2013 and 2014 persists in dumping snow, at least there is a new hero to help navigate the roads - the all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue.

Nissan celebrates 80 years of success!

Nissan celebrates 80 years of success!

We are very pleased to announce that Nissan Motor Company is now celebrating its 80th anniversary. Creating the kinds of cars that move people’s hearts is what Nissan is all about. In our pursuit of this ideal, we have always challenged the limits of what is possible by rejecting conventional assumptions and turning conventional wisdom on its head. The last eight decades have seen us take on an endless series of challenges. Looking back over those years, one can see that the challenges we have taken on have centered on 4 main areas.

Sustainability
We have never lost sight of the importance of our relationship with society at large, and have always remained focused on the effects we have on people’s lives. Thanks to this stance, the innovations that we have made along the way have sometimes transcended the realm of automaking and have brought about wide-ranging societal changes. Zero emission vehicles for example. Nissan’s development of electric vehicles began with the Tama Electric Car and that work lead on to today’s Nissan Leaf and the zero emission racing car ZEOD RC.

Accessibility
Ever since Nissan’s founding, we have placed importance on bringing the fun and convenience of automobiles to all. With Datsun brand cars, for example, we aimed to enable each household to own their car by creating Japan’s first mass-produced automobile, and these cars are now symbolic of that age. With the Nissan Z-car series we also made owning a sports car something everyone could achieve. This same stance is what is driving the scheduled relaunch of the Datsun brand in 2014.

Diversity
Learning from overseas engineers, collaborating with companies with differing areas of strength, and increasing Nissan’s organizational and cultural diversity have all contributed greatly to our automaking capabilities. 80 years have now passed since our founding – a time when we were striving hard to learn from the cutting-edge technologies of overseas companies as quickly as we could. Nowadays we have R&D bases located around the globe, and are therefore able to reflect the culture and preferences of local people in the cars we create. Today, right at this very minute, we are carrying on our conversation with our customers worldwide.

Passion
We are very passionate about driving experience, not only with cars like the Skyline and Nissan GT-R, but with all of the cars we produce. And this passion is growing more intense with the passing of time. Through our long years of experience in motorsports, we have learned a great deal about making cars that are faster, more beautiful, safer, more responsive, and simply more fun to drive.
Our passion is to create ever better cars for our customers, and this will always be the case.
We will continue to refuse to be beholden to conventional wisdom. We are driven by the goal of moving people, moving their hearts, and changing the history and we will never rest in our efforts.

About the IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO concept vehicles

The way people are buying cars is changing. A choice of colors and matching wheels is no longer enough. In a society where cars are purchased as a reflection - and enabler - of a driver's lifestyle, the way future models are designed needs to be revolutionized. This was the thinking behind the visionary "co-creation" of the Nissan IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO concept cars.

The co-creation product development approach, designed to appeal to "digital natives" - the generation born after 1990 - integrates their feedback early in the creation process. Nissan thinks this approach could have real applications in the near future.

IDx Freeflow

The IDx Freeflow reflects the sensibilities of the co-creators - the outlook of people who seek natural and tasteful things in every aspect of their daily lives. They seek to employ a simple and clean attitude, using the authentic items that they favor to artfully combine various things and give substance to their self-expression.

The interior details of the four-passenger IDx Freeflow are a carefully selected mix of fashionable functionality and comfort in a design brimming with creative originality. It is meant to feel like a living room inside, where the owner and his or her friends can relax.

Though compact in size - about 13.5 feet in length, 5.6 feet in width, and 4.3 feet in overall height - the IDx Freeflow impresses with its daring yet dignified exterior.

The IDx Freeflow's exterior color is a sophisticated combination of white and flax (a pale yellow shade), invoking a casual feeling like that produced by the pairing of the venerable white T-shirt with khaki chinos, and highlighted with silver accessories or a belt. The overall visual effect is completed by the addition of stylish 18-inch chrome wheels wrapped in 195/50-18 tires.

IDx NISMO

Many digital natives grew up playing racing simulation games that feature cars of the past and from all corners of the globe. They have a natural desire to realize that virtual driving experience in real cars of their own, and that is the basis of the IDx NISMO concept.

Not limited to being inspired just by racing cars, IDx NISMO was born from a refined combination of the freedom to borrow liberally from memorable vehicles of yesteryear and the present, in addition to whatever was felt exudes "cool."

Though IDx NISMO shares the overall length and height of its Freeflow cousin, the 5.9-foot width (versus 5.6-foot for the IDx Freeflow) of the car is testament to its low, wide stance that emphasizes its sporty proportions.

One of the hallmarks of box-type racecars is speediness conveyed by a reverse-slanted nose. On IDx NISMO, this frontal design element is embellished by an aura of seriousness communicated by the use of carbon panels. Side mufflers provide a pleasing exhaust note. The car also has contemporary touches such as front/rear and right/left aerodynamic spoilers and a lightweight 19-inch wheel and 225/40 tire package.

Scanning the IDx NISMO interior reveals racing-inspired crimson Alcantara® seat covers that entice the eyes, complemented by Spartan-looking meters and gauges that animate the racecar ambience. The lustrous metal surfaces contrast with the bright red suede trim that is augmented by blue stitching.

The Ideal Car of the Future

The Ideal Car of the Future

The following is an Op-Ed piece written by Renault-Nissan Alliance Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn at the 2014 World Economic Forum in Davos.

DAVOS, Switzerland – Today, the automobile finds itself at a significant turning point.
For more than a century, it has helped drive industrial economies around the world, provided freedom of mobility to billions and transformed modern society. But its success in the 20th century also came at a cost: a rising number of accidents, traffic congestion, CO2 emissions and oil dependency.

Our challenge today is to reduce and eventually eliminate these negative consequences while bolstering the inherent benefits of clean, efficient transportation to people around the world.

To transform the car for a new era, we must address three major issues: safety, the environment and affordability. But the auto companies cannot do it alone. We will need to partner with one another, with governments and other industries if the car is to remain a source of prosperity, progress and freedom.

Safety
Every day, more than 3,000 people die in auto-related accidents around the world. Ninety-one percent of the world's road fatalities occur in lower-income countries, even though they only account for about half of the world's vehicles.
For example, France has four times more vehicles than India, but India has 20 times more road-related deaths.

In Europe, the number of road deaths has been cut in half while the number of vehicles over the same period has doubled. Technologies such as anti-lock brakes, airbags and electronic stability control have contributed the most to the reduction in road deaths.
More technologies are being developed with the potential to eliminate auto-related fatalities.

Autonomous driving is the next step in advancing vehicle and road safety. Together, Renault and Nissan are working on complementary technologies that can predict, detect and prevent collisions. This more holistic approach promises maximum protection for people in and outside the car.

With the help of policy-makers providing clear regulatory oversight, these technologies could lead to "zero fatality" roads within our lifetimes. They also promise far greater freedom of mobility for the aged and the disabled, and will reduce the stress associated with driving in heavy traffic and unfamiliar locations.

Environment
Automobiles represent about 23 percent of the world's total CO2 emissions, the greenhouse gas most associated with global climate change. Fifteen years ago, the Renault-Nissan Alliance evaluated the environmental impact of its vehicles throughout their life cycle: the greenhouse gas effect on the climate, the impact exhaust emissions have on public health in congested urban areas, and the impact of using scarce raw materials.

As a result of that evaluation, the Alliance invested more than EUR 4 billion in zero-emissions technologies. Today, it is the only auto group that mass produces a full line of zero-emission cars and light commercial vehicles. Together, Renault and Nissan have sold more than 100,000 of these vehicles worldwide – more than all of the other major carmakers combined.

One of society's challenges now is to integrate these vehicles into a more efficient and cleaner power grid by increasing, for example, hydroelectric power to replace aging coal-fired power plants. This will require the support of local and national governments, which also need to work with industry to integrate zero-emission vehicles into the broader transportation infrastructure.

Working together, we can ensure that cars can have "zero impact" on the environment.

Affordability
In 1999, Brazil, Russia, India and China combined had only 8 percent of the global vehicle sales volume. In 2012, these four countries alone comprised 35 percent of the industry's volume.

The tremendous sales growth in these markets has been due in part to carmakers offering increasingly affordable cars for first-time, cost-conscious buyers in the rapidly rising middle class. The Alliance's CMF-A platform, created and manufactured in India, will pave the way for more affordable vehicles in emerging markets.

Conclusion
We should not forget the important role that the automobile has played in driving economic growth and freedom of mobility for more than 100 years. If today's global automotive industry was a country, it would be the world's sixth largest economy – greater than the GDP of Brazil – and account for more than 50 million jobs.
Our challenge is to ensure that the automobile remains a vehicle for progress and prosperity around the world well into the 21st century.

In partnership with other carmakers, industries and governments, we have the capability to reinvent the car for a new era, to provide sustainable mobility for all.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: Vintage Roadster Travels More That 30,000 Miles of Wide Open Road

THROWBACK THURSDAY:
Vintage Datsun Fairlady Roadster Travels More That 30,000 Miles of Wide Open Road

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Scott Fisher is a man on a mission. Not the kind of mission with deadlines and meetings – a mission to reconnect with his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster and discover the wide-open spaces of North America. Fisher has blogged the entire trip in detail at RoadsterRoadTrip.com, sharing an impressive array of his photographs from the road.

"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.

In his travels, Fisher has covered more than 30,000 miles to date, starting from his Las Vegas home last spring and heading up the West Coast.

"I got up into the Northwest when it was hot in the South, and I got over into the Northeast for fall, which has allowed me to keep the top down, maybe 80 percent of the time. I drove through the polar vortex cold snap. Car even ran well through that. Started right up, idled, didn't seemed phased by it at all," said Fisher.

Now, with 44 states and seven Canadian Provinces behind him, Fisher has stopped in Tennessee at Nissan's invitation to show off his red Datsun and share some tales from the road. The day started with a visit to Nashville's Lane Motor Museum, a place where a car guy like Scott Fisher can check out vintage automobiles and relive a childhood memory.
"This exact car would have been one of the cars I watched racing when I was growing up. Nissan brought these in and started cleaning up. I definitely didn't think I'd be sitting here when I woke up, let alone back then," said Fisher.

Then Fisher headed down the highway to Smyrna to tour Nissan's Assembly plant.
The extensive road trip has become more than just a chance to decompress and enjoy driving a machine from a simpler time. It is a connection with the natural beauty of a continent and the hospitality of its people that has given Fisher a renewed optimism for life.
"Pretty much anywhere I stop people will come up and talk to me. The car is like a little ambassador. Like traveling with a puppy, people want to come up and look at it, pet it," said Fisher.

Part of Scott's Middle Tennessee visit was a tour of Nissan's Smyrna Assembly plant, where he witnessed a level of modern automobile manufacturing automation that was not around when his Fairlady rolled off the line at the Shatai plant in Japan in the mid-1960s.
It was a day of unusual hustle and bustle for a man on a year long journey traveled at his own pace, stopping and taking in landmarks and natural beauty whenever the opportunity presents itself.

"I feel like I've got a better sense of the country than before I started, for sure," said Fisher.
Then it was off again, down the Natchez Trace Scenic Highway toward more undiscovered states and beautiful scenery passing by as the soothing sounds of a 45-year-old carbureted Datsun purr under the hood.

"I'm planning on taking my time down through Mississippi, and then getting over into New Orleans. And I am really grateful to Nissan for inviting me to come by. The hospitality and the generosity has been fantastic," said Fisher.

The trek that began as stress relief has become something much bigger; a blog started for close friends and family now has legions of followers. And for Scott Fisher, a man of many talents, the next curve brings a window of discovery to be shared with an old friend.

Nissan and FedEx Express Put All-Electric e-NV200 to Work in Collaborative US Test

Nissan and FedEx Express Put All-Electric e-NV200 to Work in Collaborative US Test

WASHINGTON, D.C. — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., and Nissan announced today at the Washington Auto Show that the two companies will begin testing the Nissan e-NV200, a 100 percent electric compact cargo vehicle, under real world conditions in Washington, D.C.
This test marks the first time the vehicle will be running in North America. FedEx Express and Nissan have conducted similar e-NV200 tests with fleets in Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Brazil.

FedEx and Nissan are both committed to reducing the environmental impact of their operations worldwide. Rotating the Nissan e-NV200 into the delivery fleet is part of the FedEx EarthSmart program, a global sustainability platform designed to guide the company's environmental commitment in the communities where it operates.  For Nissan, this effort aligns with its "Blue Citizenship" corporate social responsibility program with a focus on increasing the number of vehicles that emit no greenhouse gases by exploring additional vehicle segments where its leading electric vehicle technology may be applied.

FedEx will deploy the Nissan e-NV200 in the Washington, D.C. area, where it will undergo field tests that subject it to the routine requirements of a delivery vehicle. The results will be used to help determine the viability of using an electric vehicle in this role in the U.S. Nissan e-NV200 is scheduled to begin mass production later this year in Europe.

"As a global fleet operator serving 220 countries and territories worldwide, FedEx is committed to improving the efficiency of its vehicles as part of our EarthSmart initiatives," said Mitch Jackson, vice president of Environmental Affairs and Sustainability, FedEx Corporation. "We are pleased to continue our work with Nissan and bring the e-NV200 into test in North America."

"We're eager to work with FedEx and other companies to put the e-NV200 through its paces to continue to build awareness of the capability of electric vehicles and to evaluate how well it meets the needs of the commercial consumer," said Erik Gottfried, Nissan director of Electric Vehicle Sales and Marketing. "We'd also like to explore clever uses of EVs in work environments where carbon emissions of gas-powered vehicles make them impractical or impossible to use."

Autoweek Magazine Names Nissan Sport Sedan “best concept”

Autoweek Magazine Names Nissan Sport Sedan “best concept” at 2014 North American International Auto Show

DETROIT – Today the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept was named  “Best Concept” at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) by Autoweek Magazineeditors. The Nissan concept edged out the Kia G4 Stinger and Toyota FT-1 to earn the annual accolade given to vehicles that Autoweek believes rose above the rest at the auto show.

“The Sport Sedan Concept is an extremely important vehicle for Nissan because it demonstrates a new and energetic design direction that builds on Nissan's legendary approach of applying sports car principles to a sedan,” said Nissan senior vice president and chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura. “To receive this recognition reinforces that Nissan is headed full speed in the right direction, and this is only a sign of good things to come. We are elated to take home Autoweek’s ‘Best Concept’ award from the 2014 NAIAS.”

Each year, Autoweek editors select Best in Show, Most Significant, Most Fun and Best Concept at the auto show in Detroit. Editors pointed to the Sport Sedan Concept’s forward-looking design themes, including a flow-over “V-Motion” grille, a “floating” roof, boomerang light clusters and diamond-shaped seat graphics, as notable qualities that helped earn the award.

The Sport Sedan Concept was created by Nissan Design America and developed at the Nissan Global Design Center in Japan. It is the third vehicle displaying signature design aspects that will be adapted to all future Nissans following the previously-revealed Nissan Resonance and Friend-ME concepts. The "V-Motion" movement of the front end flows from the dramatic chromed grille up through the hood. The front of the Sport Sedan Concept also incorporates the large LED boomerang headlights, a deeply scooped front fascia and wide, sloped windshield.
The profile of the vehicle is equally powerful, with its dynamic bodyside lines adding a strong sculptural feel and connecting the wheels and tires – which are pushed out to the four corners.
The unique "floating" roof adds a sense of openness and lightness in contrast to traditional sedans' heavy cabin appearance. The design is meant to evoke youth and adventurousness, intended as a reward to customers for their hard work and success.

The concept is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of 300-plus horsepower. At this stage, the Sport Sedan Concept is a design study created to explore future design cues for Nissan’s sports sedans and is not directly affiliated with any current or future production models.

That Mysterious Giant Amazon Box Revealed!

That Mysterious Giant Amazon Box Revealed!

Giant Amazon delivery boxes were showing up on the door steps of unexacting customers over the holidays. Tons of speculation arose when it came to what was inside.

2014 Nissans Versa Notes were found inside!
"three Nissan Versa Note buyers were slated to receive their cars packaged in giant Amazon.com boxes, with video crews on hand to film the deliveries."
An interview with Erich Marx, Nissan North America's director of interactive and social media marketing provides further insight into this genus marketing scheme;

"Dumenco: So, Erich, what was in the damn box?
Marx: [laughs] A Nissan Versa Note, which is all-new for 2014. We did co-promotion with Amazon last fall, where we offered our customers and Amazon customers the opportunity to order a Nissan Versa Note through the Amazon website -- the first time anything like that's been done.
Dumenco: Right, I read about that in Auto News. So is this the first of multiple deliveries?
Marx: We talked about doing three this way. At this time we've done one of the three. We filmed it and we're actually editing the video that was shot this past weekend in Wisconsin. We're putting it together for what was supposed to debut as a social-media video next week, but we got beat to the punch with a spy photo, so we're talking to you today. That's just what can happen when you're delivering a box of that size -- it's not going to go unnoticed.
Dumenco: So there actually was a vehicle in that box?
Marx: Yes there was.
Dumenco: The person who got this, what did they do with all the cardboard? You know, that's a big box to have to fold up and put in the recycling.
Marx: [laughs] We were thoughtful enough that we helped him unload his Versa, and we took away -- our team took away -- the cardboard.
Dumenco: Any more details about the car itself?
Marx: I guess I can tell you that it is a blue Versa Note. The customer was thrilled with the delivery -- he had a good sense of humor about it. We delivered the Versa on Sunday, and he also got a $1,000 Amazon gift card to go along with it.
Dumenco: For the record, this wasn't literally purchased through or handled by Amazon, right? It's just an Amazon box, it's a co-marketing effort.
Marx: The actual purchase, the actual transaction, does have to take place with a dealer. We have wonderful dealers nationwide, and we want our dealers to have relationships with our customers.
Dumenco: What's amazing to me is that nobody got pictures of the unloading of the car.
Marx: We do have pictures of it being unloaded.
Dumenco: You should give them to me! The cat is out of the bag -- the car is out of the box -- so you should just give me the damn pictures.
Marx: [laughs] I'm not sure I'm allowed to share these yet. Again, we were taken off-guard a little bit. I mean, we understand the social space -- it's hard to keep anything secret. Having said that, we did not expect this to come out so broadly and capture the imagination like it has so quickly. We were planning, OK, we'll write up our release tomorrow, we're going to have the video ready on Monday -- we had this whole cadence.
Dumenco: Of course. Yeah, guess again, buddy.
Marx: [laughs] Exactly. Best-laid plans of the marketing guys."

Nissan’s Increased Customer Focus Leads to Higher Satisfaction Scores

Nissan's Increased Customer Focus Leads to Higher Satisfaction Scores

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan’s ongoing focus on improving customer satisfaction is paying off, as indicated by the brand’s performance in the J.D. Power Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study, released this week. Nissan ranks 10th in sales satisfaction among mass market brands. Nissan’s improvement again outpaced the improvement industry average, rising 16 index points and four rank positions among mass market brands in the latest study. This marks the third consecutive year of gains by Nissan, with a total increase of 63 index points over the period.

The annual J.D. Power SSI study is a comprehensive analysis of the new-vehicle purchase experience and measures customer satisfaction throughout the shopping and buying process.
Leon Dorssers, Nissan’s chief customer officer and vice president, Customer Quality and Dealer Network Development, said: “In order to meet our growth targets in the U.S., it is imperative that Nissan and our dealers offer both great vehicles and a great experience for our customers. Our rapid improvements in the J.D. Power SSI study show that our efforts to that end are paying off, and we remain fully committed to becoming one of the industry leaders.”

Beginning in 2011, Nissan and its dealers accelerated customer satisfaction-focused efforts, including the launch of the Nissan Customer Promise, a set of commitments to provide a fair, honest and customer-friendly environment for purchasing and owning a Nissan vehicle. In 2012, the company formed a customer experience task force and appointed Dorssers as its first chief customer officer. This task force prioritizes projects designed to enhance the customer's interaction with the company throughout the shopping, purchase and ownership experience.

A combination of all-new, core products such as Altima, Sentra, Pathfinder and Versa Note along with this intense focus on improving customer satisfaction has yielded strong sales results. Nissan sales in 2012 increased by 8.2 percent over the prior year, while 2013 sales through October are up 11 percent. In fact, sales in the first 10 months of 2013 nearly exceeded the total for all of 2011.

Nissan Unveils the New London Taxi Cab

Nissan Unveils the New London Taxi Cab

  • Designed in London, for London, at Nissan's European design center in Paddington
  • Production version will launch in December 2014
  • Zero emission electric taxi to launch in 2015

LONDON, UK - Nissan has today unveiled the new face of its Taxi for London, re-designed to make it instantly recognizable as one of the capital's iconic black cabs.

Based on the company's successful multi-purpose NV200 platform, the vehicle was first unveiled as a bold and exciting new vision for the famous London Hackney Carriage in August 2012. In response to feedback from the London Mayor's office, Transport for London and other key organizations which have put their backing behind the new taxi, Nissan has redesigned the vehicle to better reflect the iconic nature of the traditional black cab.

Nissan's newly redesigned taxi has been developed for London, in London, by Nissan Design Europe (NDE) in Paddington, the same design center responsible for the Qashqai and Juke. The new taxi will be launched in December 2014 with a modern, clean, 1.6-litre petrol engine equipped with an automatic gearbox. Furthermore, Nissan will launch a zero emission electric version of the NV200 taxi in 2015.

Nissan already has a rich pedigree in the London taxi market - its 2.7-liter TD27 diesel engine was fitted to the FX4 "Fairway" and TX1 black cabs during the 1980s and '90s and gained a reputation for reliability and durability. In developing the NV200 Taxi for London, Nissan has ensured that it adheres to the strict TfL regulations governing Hackney Carriages, including the required 25-foot (7.6-meter) turning circle.

The NV200 cab for London is part of Nissan's global taxi program, which also encompasses New York, Barcelona and Tokyo. The London version's design is bespoke, reflecting the rich heritage and status of London's black cabs.

Among the specific changes that have been made to the front of the NV200 taxi are:
  • Round headlamps and a re-modeled grille mirroring the traditional black cab "face"
  • LED lighting to improve visibility of the traditional taxi sign
  • Completely new front bumper panels

Design Excellence Manager at NDE, Darryl Scriven, said: "Having already overcome the unique technical challenges presented by the development of a new Hackney Carriage for London ahead of our launch of the vehicle in August 2012, we turned our attention to making the vehicle look the part. The Mayor's office and taxi drivers were very keen that we maintain the character of the Hackney Carriage, making it something that people in the city can be proud of.

"The main challenges were concerned with making sure customers can easily recognize it as a taxi. Being in London, we were able to go out and talk to cabbies about what was important to them as well as look at the vehicle from a customer's viewpoint. It's unusual for us to be able to work on something as bespoke as this, specifically for one location in the world and we are very proud to have been asked to do so."

Andy Palmer, Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Corporation, said: "Since we launched our Taxi for London in August 2012, we have worked closely with the Mayor's office and associated stakeholders and interested parties to ensure that Nissan's new cab not only raises the bar for both driver and passenger, but is also as instantly recognizable as its legendary forebears.

"Alongside this, our engineers at Nissan Technical Centre Europe in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, have continued work on the cab, running real-world trials on the streets of London."
Nissan intends to put the NV200 Taxi for London on sale in the Capital in December 2014. From launch the new taxi will be available with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine equipped with an automatic gearbox. Compared to current diesel London taxis, this engine will be far cleaner, with lower levels of NOx and particulates.

Nissan franchised dealer group, Glyn Hopkin, has been appointed as the exclusive retailer to sell the Nissan NV200 Taxi for London from a purpose-built, ultra-modern showroom facility based in Canary Wharf.

Nissan is also forging ahead with its pioneering work in the sustainable motoring field, developing a 100 percent electric taxi – the e-NV200 – which it aims to have on the streets of London years ahead of the Mayor's target of 2020 for the development of a zero-emissions taxi. Nissan's electric taxi will be on the streets of a UK city in 2015.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nissan aims to return to its glory days of sports car success from the late 80s/early 90s with Muscle Milk Pickett Racing joining forces with the Japanese manufacturer as its official partner team.

After taking back-to-back American Le Mans Series championship victories, Muscle Milk Pickett Racing will be powered by Nissan in 2014 for the inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. Nissan dominated U.S. sports car racing from 1988 to 1991 - winning four consecutive driver’s championships, three manufacturer's titles and 33 IMSA races.

As part of the NISMO Global Driver Exchange, racers from Nissan's squad of international drivers will compete alongside Muscle Milk Pickett Racing's Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf. Luhr is no stranger to Nissan colors – winning the GT1 World Championship aboard a Nissan GT-R with Michael Krumm in 2011.

Nissan P2 World Endurance Championship regular Alex Brundle will join the team for the Rolex 24 at Daytona – the young British driver aiming to follow in the footsteps of his father Martin Brundle who won the American round-the-clock endurance classic 26 years ago in 1988.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona will be Brundle's first opportunity to contest a major U.S. championship event. The second-generation racer drove for Oak Racing in 2013 in the FIA World Endurance Championship – finishing second in both the championship and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LM P2 class.

Nissan drivers will also drive the Muscle Milk ORECA 03 prototype class entry at the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans.

Launched last year, the NISMO Exchange provides opportunities for drivers in the Nissan "family" to contest major motorsports events across the globe.

The Nissan-powered Muscle Milk Pickett Racing ORECA 03 will hit the track this weekend at the "Roar before the Rolex 24" – the traditional pre-season test prior to the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship debuts at Daytona on January 25-26.

DARREN COX
NISSAN GLOBAL MOTORSPORT DIRECTOR
"We're glad to welcome Muscle Milk Pickett Racing to the Nissan family and look forward to having our official drivers learn from such a successful team.

"Greg Pickett and his team have achieved incredible results in recent years and having them as part of the NISMO Global Driver Exchange program will be an outstanding opportunity for our drivers. It is also great to again work with Lucas Luhr who won the GT1 World Championship with Nissan with Michael Krumm back in 2011. Lucas and Klaus Graf have enjoyed amazing success in the U.S. in recent years and I'm looking forward to seeing them continue that run with Nissan power in 2014. We are also very proud to have brought Nissan back to the forefront of U.S. sports car racing. Our company has an incredible pedigree dating back to the old IMSA championship and I'm certain Nissan and NISMO will add to that history in the coming years."

GREG PICKETT
OWNER – MUSCLE MILK PICKETT RACING
"We're extremely pleased to become one of Nissan's partner teams and to have them as part of the Muscle Milk Pickett Racing family. Nissan are proven race winners throughout the world and together we want to build a strong relationship that will help us continue the success that we've both come to enjoy. We're excited to not only have our prototype be powered by Nissan but to also be involved with them at a deeper level. Nissan has developed a great initiative with their NISMO Global Driver Exchange program and have a lot of young talent that we look forward to joining us throughout the season, starting with Alex Brundle at Daytona. I'm anxious to see Alex behind the wheel of our Muscle Milk ORECA/Nissan and I'm confident he will fit right in just fine with Klaus (Graf) and Lucas (Luhr)."

ALEX BRUNDLE
DRIVER – MUSCLE MILK PICKETT RACING
"I am excited to go over to Daytona and race in the Rolex 24. The chance to fight for overall victory with Muscle Milk Pickett Racing and Nissan is a fantastic next step in my career. I am delighted to be finally getting the chance to compete at an event I have aspired to contest. I would like to say thanks to Darren Cox of Nissan and Pickett Racing for giving me that opportunity. Muscle Milk has a tremendous record in American sports car racing so to have the chance to join such a prestigious American team is excellent. I'm looking forward to making the most of it. Klaus and Lucas have driven in the American series for a quite a while now so I can learn quickly from them. I am looking forward to the challenge. The Nissan engine was so strong in the WEC last year that in reality there was no other powerplant to have, which brings confidence heading into the testing process. The engine produces a lot of torque with impressive reliability evidenced by the performance we enjoyed at Oak Racing in last year where we had two cars running strongly at the finish of the Le Mans 24 hours."
