Affordable HEV Technology debuts soon in the new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid

Affordable HEV Technology debuts soon in the new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid

When it comes to sustainable mobility – including electric vehicles and gasoline/electric hybrid systems, Nissan is known for its innovative approach. More than 75,000 Nissan LEAF EVs have been sold around the world in its first two years, affirming Nissan's position as the global leader in affordable production electric vehicles and advanced Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery technology. The company's "one-motor, two-clutch" gasoline/electric powertrain parallel hybrid system made its production debut in the United States in spring 2011 in the rear-wheel drive Infiniti M Hybrid – a vehicle delivering more than 350 horsepower and 30 miles per gallon fuel efficiency.

Now Nissan has adapted its advanced Intelligent Dual Clutch System to create a new front-wheel/four-wheel drive hybrid system that debuts in the fourth-generation Nissan Pathfinder SUV (for full details on the 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid, please go to NissanNews.com).

While the high performance hybrid system utilized in the premium Infiniti M Hybrid is highly appropriate to a luxury sports sedan, the new Pathfinder's hybrid system is designed to provide milder performance and fuel economy gains at a more affordable price for a wider customer base. Said Nissan North America, Inc. Vice President, Product Planning Pierre Loing: "The new system used in the 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid serves as the natural evolution from conventional internal combustion powertrains to the wider adaption of hybrid systems. With its compact packaging and light weight design, it is ideal for use in family vehicles such as the Pathfinder where interior passenger and cargo space are critical – and where the system's design preserves the same abundant amount of space offered by the conventional Pathfinder."

Three key elements are critical to the design of the new hybrid system, all of which are already available in the Nissan technology catalog:

  • A range of downsized internal combustion engines, such as the new Pathfinder Hybrid's 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder – which has been fitted with a Roots-type supercharger to give it total horsepower (250 hp with HEV system) and torque (243 lb-ft) similar to the Pathfinder 3.5-liter V6-equipped model.
  • An advanced Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) that maximizes engine operating efficiency with both the gasoline engine and electric motor compared to a fixed gear ratio transmission. Nissan's industry leadership in CVT design includes the latest generation Xtronic CVT®, used in all Pathfinder models, that features greatly reduced internal friction, a wider ratio coverage than most automatic transmissions, and compact size – allowing the Pathfinder's CVT and integrated motor-clutch configuration fit in the same space as the conventional vehicle's transmission.
  • And finally, a compact Li-ion battery system that is both powerful and easily configurable for a variety of applications so as not to intrude into the passenger or cargo areas. For use in the new Pathfinder Hybrid, the battery fits compactly under the 3rd row passenger seat, so there is no difference in passenger or cargo volume versus the conventional Pathfinder models.

"This new system is not only adaptable to front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations like with the new Pathfinder Hybrid, it is completely scalable depending on vehicle design or segment," said Loing. "For example, with Pathfinder it is used with the supercharged 2.5-liter engine, 15 kW electric motor and relatively small battery pack – retaining solid SUV capabilities including standard towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. For use in an urban compact or sedan, the system might include a smaller 2.0-liter engine but a more powerful electric motor and larger battery to extend the pure electric driving range for city stop-and-go traffic use. There is complete design flexibility with this system – along with an affordability factor because it uses readily available components."

The New Nissan FF-Hybrid System in Detail

Compact and adaptable to vehicles of any size, the new FF-Hybrid powertrain achieves smooth and direct acceleration, excellent fuel economy and it significantly narrows the price premium over conventional internal combustion engines.
As with the FR-Hybrid, the FF-Hybrid utilizes the unique one-motor, two-clutch configuration known as the Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch System.  The electric motor is linked with a Lithium-ion battery. Positioned between the gasoline engine and the Xtronic CVT® (where the torque converter would normally be), the motor also functions as a generator, conveying energy from the CVT to the battery upon deceleration. As for the two clutches, one is installed between the gasoline engine and the electric motor, the other between the motor and the CVT.
When both clutches are engaged, the engine and electric motor connect directly to the CVT, allowing the electric motor to augment torque from the engine as required. This creates the potential for powerful acceleration.

The high input/output Li-ion battery is automatically topped up by regenerative power from the brakes by converting the vehicle's kinetic energy otherwise lost in braking.
Pairing this battery with a smaller engine than conventional gasoline vehicles, closely integrated with an electric motor and CVT, results in a highly compact and cost-effective package that can be adapted for use in a range of applications.

Nissan GT-R Egoist Unveiled!

Nissan GT-R Egoist Unveiled!

If the Nissan GT-R doesn't boost your vehicular ego enough as it is, the next iteration seems to be designed to do just that. Buzzing the internet for the last few days, real information has come out from Nissan Japan concerning their Spec-M and the Nissan GT-R's future. We've seen the visual touches that are occurring. The new, LED-adorned front fascia is a thing of eye-catching beauty, while the new carbon fiber rear diffuser is a more subtle stylistic touch. The wheels, 20" works of art they are, are being redesigned to eschew themselves from the subtle side of visual flair back to the radical and aggressive. And, above all else, the car which was already a performance power-house is getting a bit of a boost. A very good bit of a boost. The vehicle will definitely cross the 500HP thresh hold, but by how much is a question. Some people with "source information" are claiming as much as 545, although 530 seems to be the safest bet at this point. That's right: 530 HP is a safe bet. So, you take the most impressive automotive machine in production right now (at least, the most impressive with a price tag under a quarter million), give it some more get-up-n-go, and adorn it with lighter weight, truly beautiful, exterior modifications and what do you have? You have the Egoist.

Yeah, you read that right: the Egoist. This car is meant to not only strike fear in the hearts of others but to also make you puff out your chest with pride and add a little more swagger to your step. Of course, the GT-R already does that, but with 530HP now, it will undoubtedly do so even more. Especially considering that the current GT-R boasts 485 power, so this is no small jump. 485 to 530 is a big difference, and will definitely shave large chunks of time off of the GT-Rs already unbelievably impressive performance numbers. Wow. This is exciting, and I can't wait for the official announcements and numbers.

Via Facebook and at PassionGenome.com, participants will see the passions they share with their friends illustrated in a Passion Portrait, a personalized, interactive visualization of themselves. After exploring their top-six passion categories, users can explore the entire Passion Genome to see where they fit within an expanded virtual universe of people and passions from across the world. Anyone who creates a Passion Portrait and shares it via Facebook or Twitter using the #MyPassionPortrait hashtag will be entered for a chance to win one of eight $1,000 gift cards from Amazon.com and have their portraits featured on PassionGenome.com.

"We are all part of a greater whole, and the rapid growth of social networks has made that clearer than ever before," said Jon Brancheau, vice president, Marketing, Nissan North America. "The Passion Genome displays passions and connections in an extraordinary and fascinating way, and we at Nissan can't wait to see how it resonates with everyone who explores it."

The Passion Genome was inspired by the 2014 Nissan Versa Note, a second-generation hatchback with a sculpted, modern and energetic look that reflects the active lives of its target buyers. The Versa Note is an exceptional combination of versatility, technology and value that boasts a substantial 40 miles per gallon (mpg) highway fuel economy and best-in-class total interior volume.*

Watch the fastest Nissan GT-R in the world hit 250 mph in 22.6 seconds

Watch the fastest Nissan GT-R in the world hit 250 mph in 22.6 seconds

On a cold morning in Russia, competitors in the Moscow Unlimited Standing Mile event readied for action, seeking the ultimate speed from their tuned missiles. One competitor, piloting a 1,800 hp Nissan GT-R by Oberlin, Ohio, based tuners Switzer Performance, sought to claim the title as "world's fastest GT-R." Completing the mile in a reported 22.602 seconds, the machine nicknamed "Goliath" hit 250 mph to become the undisputed tsar of the GT-Rs.

Tym Switzer, owner of Switzer Performance, prides himself on creating the fastest GT-Rs imaginable and yet ensuring it remains user-friendly. “It’s important to realize, this is still a 4,000 lb. streetcar with a full interior, AC, stereo – it even has the stock seats," says Switzer. "It’s a real, drivable streetcar, albeit at the limits of what most people would tolerate. The only ‘race stuff’ in the car is the fuel."

Having driven a 1,000 hp GT-R tuned by Switzer, I concur. Only, my brain can't fathom what a blend of almost 1,800 Japanese and American stallions must feel like, especially on a drizzly day in Moscow just feet from a flimsy iron railing. "In the '90s," Switzer says, "a 1,000 hp street car was unheard of. Now? Fifteen hundred hp and people want more – they think they do, anyway, but very few people really know what ‘pushing the envelope’ means."

In fact, Tym Switzer had to plead with his Russian client to be more conservative; that is, until the client explained that he was well aware of the risks and demanded the car be made to his specifications anyway. While ultimate performance is Switzer's calling card, utilizing that power with a linear curve ensuring the car remains stable, specifically upon launch, is key. Switzer attests this differentiating attribute to their Syvecs engine management system. In this case, it helped their Russian client speed to 250 mph and a claimed GT-R record, a speed, according to event organizers, that has only been surpassed by two other cars – a 267 mph Ford GT and a 250 mph and change Chevy Camaro.

Last time I was in Switzer's shop in Ohio, driving their Ultimate Street Edition GT-R, there was a "Goliath" being built. At the time, I wondered quite how fast a car that boasts 80-percent more power than the insane GT-R I drove (which was faster to 130 mph from 60 than even a Bugatti Veyron) must be. Well, I guess I now have the answer: Very.

Nissan’s Self-Driving Car Wins the Innovation Awards!

Nissan’s Self-Driving Car wins award and excites audiences at the Innovation Awards!

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.'s Autonomous Drive technology has won the Grand Prix in the CEATEC Innovation Awards, the top prize. It was awarded by a panel of independent US journalists working in the fields of IT and consumer electronics.

The award honors the best among the technologies, products and services exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN 2013. The jury of journalists assesses the exhibits at CEATEC in a number of categories to determine the best by focusing on their potential impact on the U.S. market, meeting new consumer needs, functionality, innovation and if the technology, product or service exhibited offers a unique solution to new needs. It is the first time for Nissan to have won the award and the first time for an automaker to be given this accolade.

Nissan's Autonomous Drive technology also won the Smart Mobility, Special Award category.

The Grand Prix award was given with the following citation from the panel:
“Nissan's Autonomous Drive technology will greatly benefit future society by reducing traffic accidents and fatalities, preventing traffic congestion and contributing to a reduction in environmental issues through improved fuel economy.
Nissan revealed the advanced development of its technology in August when the company committed to being ready with multiple, commercially-viable Autonomous Drive cars by 2020. The system will be deployed across the model range within two vehicle generations.

Nissan's Autonomous Drive technology is an extension of its Safety Shield, which monitors a 360-degree view around a vehicle for risks, offers warnings to the driver and takes action if necessary. It is based on the philosophy that everything required should be on board the vehicle, rather than relying on detailed external data.

Nissan’s Cars Aren’t the only things that are works of art!

Nissan's cars aren't the only works of art! See who wins the 2013 Nissan Art Awards!

An international jury of five museum directors and curators tackled that question at Yokohama's BankART Studio NYK while selecting for the inaugural Nissan Art Award.

Corporate sponsorship is not unique in the arts. But as a first for Nissan, the Nissan Art Award aims to recognize art that expresses innovation and creativity to inspire society.

CEO Carlos Ghosn said Nissan is contributing to society in a meaningful way by providing support and greater visibility to Japanese contemporary artists.
Eight artists – all of whom have exhibited work overseas – showcased their mixed-media installations with themes ranging from language and history to boundaries and transience.
Dusseldorf-based artist Hiroyuki Masuyama took a photo every 20 seconds during an 11-hour flight from Frankfurt to Tokyo to combine more than 900 photos as a visual representation of time and space.
In the absence of a time machine, he said our relationship with those dimensions is elusive.
"Given the current state of civilization, I think, as humans, we still don't have the means to properly explain the concepts of time and space," said Masuyama. "Science keeps evolving and growing, but the dimensions of time and space are still mysterious to us. I wanted to express these concepts through art."
Artist Tatzu Nishi, known for constructing rooms around monuments, tries to bring alternate meanings to what we see everyday. At BankART, a public restroom became the provocative "Perry's Squadron," alluding to ships that docked at Yokohama Port and led to the opening of trade.
But winner of the Grand Prize was Aiko Miyanaga with "Tegami" (Letter), a site-specific work that suggests historical memory and transience with naphthalene shaped as keys and suitcases that degrade over time into the air.

"When Western culture came to Yokohama, many things changed suddenly, and at the same time people's desires also changed," said Miyanaga. "They had new dreams and hopes. There was an exchange of values and people. Things changed physically, too, and I think that's what led to the city of Yokohama we can see today.

"I imagined that within each of these exchanges, there was a key hidden among them. That could signify the expanding feelings of the people. That is the idea behind the title 'Letter'," she said.

Jury Chair and Mori Art Museum Director Fumio Nanjo said art is an endless source for creative ideas.

Japanese contemporary art must walk a fine line between being unique and translatable to inspire new ways of thinking. The most interesting moment of being involved in art is when that is discovered, said Nanjo.

"Art creation has to be in between unique and local, and international and universal," said Nanjo. "And then they have to show a new language, a new way of looking at things, a new concept. And then the new values – maybe they're very local and very limited values – but they become international. And the best for a curator is to promote that this phenomenon happens – that you find a unique artist."

And the Nissan Art Award did just that, with Miyanaga receiving a trophy with the signature style of artist Kohei Nawa. Nishi won the Special Jury Award.

In art, as in life, the ways in which we challenge convention – from historical memory to reimagining the car – evolves, and as technology changes, so does design.
The show runs until November 4, and the Nissan Art Award competition will be held every alternate year.

The All-New 2014 Nissan Rogue comes with confidence standard!

The All-New 2014 Nissan Rogue comes with confidence standard!

Confidence comes standard
Like every Nissan vehicle, the all-new 2014 Rogue comes equipped with a suite of standard safety, driving, and convenience features designed to help inspire confidence behind the wheel, and make every ride better, safer, and more enjoyable.

Forward Collision Warning
Sensors in Rogue's front bumper are continually monitoring the road ahead and calculating the distance to the vehicle in front of you. If the system senses you are closing in too quickly, you will be alerted with visual and audio cues.

Blind Spot Warning
If a vehicle is in your blind spot, indicators on the Advanced Drive-Assist® Display and next to your side mirror will illuminate. If you signal to change lanes while a vehicle is still there, a chime and a warning light alert you of its presence.

Lane Departure Warning
As you drive, the rearview camera monitors the lines on the road, and if you stray from your lane, the Lane Departure Warning System will let you know with audio and visual alerts.

Moving Object Detection
Moving Object Detection uses the cameras of the Around View® Monitor to help you avoid bumps and collisions. It provides visual and audible warnings if the system detects moving objects nearby, and is particularly handy when you are pulling into and out of tight parking spaces.
Clever. Careful. Confident.
Class-Exclusive 360° Around View® Monitor

The all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue has an available class-exclusive Around View® Monitor to make backing-up and parking a breeze. The system works by converting the view from each of four wide-angle cameras (in the front, rear, and side mirrors) into a composite overhead view of your Rogue. Now you can see your vehicle's position in relation to its surroundings on all sides, avoiding not only the car behind or in front, but saving your wheels from nasty curb damage.

NISSAN EDGES UP IN RANK IN THE TOP MOST VALUABLE BRANDS IN THE WORLD!

NISSAN EDGES UP IN RANK IN THE TOP MOST VALUABLE BRANDS IN THE WORLD!

Nissan has been named one of the world's most valuable brands for 2013, according to Interbrand, the world-leading brand consultancy. In the Best Global Brands Study, released by Interbrand, Nissan ranked 65, up from 73 in 2012. The leading brand consultant noted Nissan's leadership in zero emissions mobility, as well as the roll-out of Nismo badged performance cars around the world, and said the brand resonates with a broad range of global consumers. The value of the Nissan brand was estimated at $6.203 billion, an increase from last year's value of nearly $5 billion.

The ranking follows Nissan being named in June as one of the world's greenest brands for 2013 in Interbrand's Best Global Green Brands report. The Nissan LEAF is by far the world's best-selling 100% electric vehicle making the company the global leader in Zero Emissions mobility. Nissan ranked fifth overall out of 50 brands in that report.

"The power of our brand is a core pillar of our Nissan Power 88 strategic plan, which means that it's essential to our growth plan," said Roel de Vries, Nissan Corporate Vice President and global head of marketing, brand and communications. "These rankings demonstrate we're on track to achieve the ambitious brand power goals we set in our mid-term plan."

The Best Global Brands study is Interbrand's annual report on the world's most valuable brands. Interbrand's method looks at the ongoing investment and management of the brand as a business asset, taking into account financial performance, the role of brand in the purchase decision process, and the strength of the brand.

In this year's study, Interbrand noted Nissan's global, multi-channel approach with a consistent message of innovation, which it said was the DNA of the brand. The report noted that demand is continuing to grow for the Nissan LEAF and that stronger consumer engagement will help Nissan achieve aggressive business targets, build loyalty and energize new audiences.

The Nissan Leaf leads the way in EV Racing with the Nissan Leaf NISMO RC!

The Nissan Leaf leads the way in EV Racing with the Nissan Leaf NISMO RC!
IRVINE, Calif. - The Nissan LEAF NISMO RC was one of many models on hand at the Nissan 360 motoring event in southern California, drawing media and car fans from around the globe over its month-long run.

Among the many Nissan executives that visited 360 was Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga, who took the all-electric racing car for a few hot laps but didn't leave a trail of smoke - just a smile.

Some have called the LEAF RC, which debuted at the New York Motor Show in 2011, the future of racing, but COO Shiga says it embodies the most important attribute for any vehicle: It's fun to drive.

Nissan Racing team takes the Dogzilla Food Truck for a ride!

Nissan Racing team takes the Dogzilla Food Truck for a ride!

IRVINE, Calif. - The words "food" and "truck" combined can invoke the kind of misery-on-wheels that restocks airplane galleys. But not at Nissan 360.

At Nissan's global showcase of products and technologies in California, two food trucks - The Lime Truck (TLC) and Dogzilla - were lime-green chariots serving the best SoCal has to offer. And like Cinderella getting dressed up for the ball, tacos and hotdogs never had it so good.

"Foodies need not fret: The Lime Truck has arrived," so went the slogan for the Orange County-based taco truck.

TLT beckoned N360 guests daily from 11am to 2pm, while the Ultimate Taco (12-hour pulled pork, cojita cheese, homemade guacamole and chipotle honey cabbage) and the Sweet and Spicy Steak Taco (marinated hanger steak, Asian slaw and homemade wontons) enticed hungry journalists, confirming why TLT is royalty on the California food-truck scene.
Winner of the Food Network's 2011 The Great Food Truck Race and boasting a Twitter following over 10,000 strong, TLT now has an empire of three trucks and two brick-and-mortar eateries in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

All its ingredients are organic, locally sourced from partner Melissa's Produce, including the ghost peppers (bhut jolokia chiles) in the Death Sauce, which made the mouths of brave TLT taco eaters at N360 burn like the 110-degree desert sands surrounding the tracks.
What comes next?

The Lime Truck's Alex Demag - and high school buddy of TLT founder-owner Daniel Shemtob - says a third location in the Irvine Spectrum is planned for the cars in 2014.
The Lime Truck is often kept company by the Dogzilla team. Established around the same time as TLT, in 2010, Dogzilla unleashes the condiments of Asia on its dogs, including teriyaki sauce, furikake seasoning, fried eggs - and even yakisoba.
The Yaki Dog is a cajun pork link topped with yakisoba noodles, red ginger, okonomiyaki sauce, and aonori - all true to Dogzilla's slogan of "Not your typical wiener." But if you're not digging Asian-style dogs, Dogzilla offers the Ball Park - with chili, onions and cheddar cheese - or a classic beef frank, the Plain Wiener.

Dogzilla's Chris Le says owners Bac Dang and Martin Tse wanted to put a twist on hotdogs and with the success of fusion decided on Asian trimmings. Clearly, it's worked.
Following the food truck boom around 2010 that took mobile munchies into the hundreds, only a few remain.

Dogzilla and The Lime Truck keep their L.A. and O.C. entourages up to date on their whereabouts through social media. Did we mention they do weddings?
And after a main course, what better way to go than ice cream. Ben & Jerry's was on site with none other than Maan Sidhu - owner of the only B&J's in Orange County - scooping the likes of Chunky Monkey and Cherry Garcia into cups and cones for overheated guests.
By the end of the event, they had a chance to sample Nissan 360's auto offerings: the Nissan 370Z NISMO and the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, and even race their own vehicles for a quick taste of food truck performance on the track.

The Pro-Am team championship is a straight fight between Nissan and Ferrari!

  • Blancpain Endurance Series titles go down to the wire in Germany
  • Kazuki Hoshino races at the Nurburgring for NISMO Global Driver Exchange
  • Jann Mardenborough doubles up on GT and F3 duty
  • FIA World Endurance Championship heads Stateside to Texas
  • Two new GT Academy graduates join Tomas Scheckter for Silverstone 1000kms
NURBURGRING, Germany - Nissan takes its team of talented gamers to the Nurburgring in Germany this weekend for the final round of the Blancpain Endurance Series.  The result of this race will decide both the driver and team titles in the Pro-Am class of the 2013 Series.
T
he Pro-Am team championship is a straight fight between Nissan and Ferrari, currently separated by just one point with Nissan having the upper hand.

Lucas Ordonez leads the Pro-Am driver's championship ahead of teammates Peter Pyzera and Alex Buncombe, but with 33 points awarded to the race winner that title battle is still wide open.
Nissan GT Academy Team RJN will field two cars for this event. The No.35 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 will be raced by Lucas Ordonez, Wolfgang Reip and Peter Pyzera, while the sister No.32 GT-R will be in the hands of Alex Buncombe, Mark Shulzhitskiy and Jann Mardenborough who will also be competing in the British F3 International Series at the Nurburgring this weekend.

The final event of the Blancpain Endurance Series is a one-off 1000kms race so tactics and strategy will play a key part in the outcome. Lucas Ordonez is ready to get out there and fight for the championship.
"It's a long race so anything can happen but I will be racing with the championship in my mind," said Lucas. "It will be a tough track for us so we really need to nail the set up.  I've not actually raced on the Grand Prix track before but I have done many driving events there. I won my class at the Nurburgring 24 Hours in 2012 though so it is a good place for me.  This is a very important event for me, for Nissan and for GT Academy. It has been a very busy and very exciting year and I hope we can finish it with a championship in our hands."

Like Lucas, Peter Pyzera has never competed on the Grand Prix track but he knows it well from taking part in many track days there.

"I really like the atmosphere at the Nurburgring and that fact that this is my home race makes a big difference to me," said Peter. "It is only two hours from my home so I hope to get a lot of local support. I have a good feeling about this race. To be honest the only time I haven't had a good feeling before a race was at Ricard and that didn't go well at all! This is my first season as a racing driver and we are going to the last race leading the championship. I'm very proud to be part of this team and I hope we can hit our targets at the Nurburgring.  It would be great to stay in front of Ferrari and maybe get a podium. To win the championship would be fantastic so like always I will give 100% and see what happens."

The Nurburgring 1000kms will also see another NISMO Exchange taking place when NISMO's Kazuki Hoshino jumps into the No.23 JRM Racing GT-R with Peter Dumbreck and Steven Kane.

"Thank you very much to Nissan for giving me the chance to race in Blancpain, said Kazuki. "I am very interested in the series and I like the track so much.  I have been there five times for the Nurburgring 24 Hours but not this year so I am pleased to go there again. It is good to be part of the NISMO Global Driver Exchange. I was very surprised and impressed by the three drivers who have been over to Japan so far (Lucas, Alex and Jann).  They only needed three laps to get used to driving at a new track before they were putting in very quick laps. I also really enjoyed racing with Lucas. He is a good guy with a great racing ability and I hope to race and share the same car with him again."

MOMENT OF TRUTH ARRIVES FOR TWO MORE GT ACADEMY GRADUATES
While most of the GT Academy graduates are fighting for the Blancpain title at the Nurburgring, two of the newest winners will be taking part in their prize drive at Silverstone.

Salman Al Khater and Ashley Oldfield are the winners of the 2012 GT Academy competitions in the Middle East and South Africa respectively.  Since winning GT Academy last March, Salman and Ashley have been on an intensive driver development program to prepare for them for international competition.  Like Lucas Ordonez, Jann Mardenborough and all of the winners before them their prize is to compete in an international endurance event in a Nissan 370Z NISMO GT4 race car.

An important part of the GT Academy process is the lessons the winners learn from their mentors. Lucas was mentored by Johnny Herbert in 2008, and the ex-F1 star joined Lucas on the grid for the 2009 Dubai 24 Hours.  For Ashley and Salman, they have the expertise of Tomas Scheckter to call upon as the successful South African racer will join them for the Silverstone 1000kms this weekend.

NISSAN LOOKING TO CONTINUE CLEAN SWEEP
Philippe Sinault's Signatech Team won the European Le Mans Series race at the Hungaroring last weekend, leading home a Nissan-powered 1-2-3-4 and continuing the clean sweep of Nissan victories in both the ELMS and FIA WEC.

The FIA World Endurance Championship moves to the United States this weekend to race at the Circuit of the Americas in Houston.  With seven LM P2 cars powered by Nissan the racing will be as close as ever so tune into radiolemans.com or catch the action live at fiawec.com when the race gets underway on today.
