Datsun is Back
Datsun is Back
- First customer of the 21st century will take delivery on March 19, 2014, in India
All new car brand with a 100-year heritage
YOKOHAMA, Japan - On March 19, the first Datsun cars sold in the 21st century will be delivered to customers in India. It fulfills a promise made two years ago to bring back the marque that made car ownership mainstream in Japan and numerous other countries, and now returns as the brand of choice for the risers in today's high-growth markets.
The first 21st century Datsun customers will be in India. They will be taking to the roads in their new Datsun GO exactly one hundred years from the launch of the first ever DAT car, in Japan. Over that century, Datsun went on to sell more than 20 million vehicles in 190 countries.
The keys to the new Datsun's will be handed over at celebration events planned for March 19 and March 20 in the Indian cities of Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata.
The Datsun GO will be offered through a network of more than 120 Datsun dealer outlets across the country. Detailed pricing will be announced on March 19th. As disclosed earlier, Nissan Motor Private India Limited will distribute Datsun vehicles in India.
Datsun is expanding rapidly around the world. New Datsun models will be introduced in Indonesia, Russia and South Africa later this year.
About Datsun
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced the return of the Datsun brand, Nissan's third global brand, alongside Nissan and Infiniti, in March 2012. Datsun will provide a sustainable motoring experience to optimistic up-and-coming customers in high-growth markets. Datsun represents 80 years of accumulated Japanese car-making expertise and is an important part of Nissan's DNA. Datsun vehicles will start sales in India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa from 2014.
Datsun History
Datsun originated in Japan as DAT-GO (the DAT-car) almost a century ago in 1914. The word DAT means "lightning-fast" in Japanese but is also a reference to the first letters of family names of the three financiers who supported the business at the time: Den, Aoyama and Takeuchi. Using the same logic, it was promoted as Durable, Attractive and Trustworthy, or DAT for short.
In 1933, Nissan's founding father Yoshisuke Aikawa took over the business with a vision of "mobility for all." The introduction of a lightweight, economical yet resilient car to meet the aspirations of young Japanese people in the early 1930s was named the "son of DAT" – Datson - which later changed to Datsun. Local engineering and mass-production made the founder's dream a reality.

Nissan V8 Supercars
ROLLE, Switzerland - In a week that saw the launch of the NISMO Global Driver Exchange and subsequently Lucas Ordonez' first test in a Super GT car, Nissan today announced that he (Ordonez) along with Michael Krumm will test the Nissan Altima V8 Supercars at Winton Motor Raceway in Australia on August 12.
Krumm and Ordonez will fly to Australia for their debut V8 Supercar test, then head straight to Japan for the Suzuka 1000kms on August 17-18, Round Five of the 2013 SUPER GT Championship, where Krumm will drive his regular #24 Nissan GT-R in the GT500 class for the factory NISMO squad, and Ordonez for the NDDP outfit in the GT300 class.
The "NISMO Global Driver Exchange" announcement also included news that NISMO will enter a Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 in the 2014 Bathurst 12 Hour on February 7-9, 2014, with Nissan Motorsport V8 Supercar driver to lead the outfit that will be entered as the "NISMO Athlete Global Team."
"I'm very much looking forward to the V8 test," commented Krumm. "I've always watched it on TV, and I like the cars. They have a lot of power and not very big tires. From what I know from driver colleagues that have driven the car, it will be a big challenge. It's good for the driver, apparently, because you have to have a lot of different techniques. The driver plays a bigger role in the speed of the car."
"This is just a test, and this is a Nissan engine," he continued. "I've driven many Nissan engines before, so this is a chance for me to see how it compares to the other engines worldwide. I haven't driven a race car in Australia, so I'm really looking forward to that. The Bathurst 1000 is a big race. Something that everyone wants to do at least once in their lifetime. It would be nice, but first of all, I have to drive the Altima V8 Supercar and see if I feel comfortable."
Lucas Ordonez has one of the busiest schedules he has ever known at the moment. Just back from Japan, he is about to compete in the Spa 24 Hours before the next chapter of his incredible racing career takes him to Australia and then back again to Japan.
"Most of my racing has been in Europe, so to have the chance to drive a V8 Supercar is amazing," said Ordonez. "It's another step in my career. I have followed the V8s from Europe, and with Nissan entering in the championship, it's amazing to hear the news that I'm testing the Altima V8 Supercar. I really can't wait for it. I know it's a tough car to drive with no electronic systems, no traction control, but it's a proper racing car with a lot of power. I have spoken to some guys who have driven the cars before, and they've told me that the cars are tricky to drive and tricky to make fast. They say you can drive them over the curbs quite aggressively, and the way you enter the corner has to change to make less wheel spin, because the car has a lot of power. This is a great chance of me to learn, have fun, and hopefully one day compete in the Bathurst 1000."
"Part of our program to continue to globalize Nissan Motorsport is to get some of our international drivers to sample the brand-new Altima V8," explained Nissan's Director of Global Motorsport, Darren Cox. "It's a great opportunity for these drivers to try a different form of motor racing, but also for us to shine a light on the excellent work that is being done by Nissan Motorsport in Australia."

The top 10 Reasons to get into the 2014 Versa Note
As the all-new 2014 Versa Note, the global follow-up to Nissan's highly popular Versa hatchback, gets set to do battle in the increasingly competitive U.S. entry-level subcompact segment, it has the numbers on its side. Here are just a few examples:
1. 31, 35, 40. Leading, as in class-leading, the new Versa Note's standout attributes is its 40 mpg highway fuel economy.* Note also offers best-in-class** 31 city mpg and 35 mpg combined city/highway fuel efficiency.
2. Double-down. Of all the numbers surrounding Versas Note's smooth, responsive powerplant - 1.6 liters, 109 horsepower, 107 lb-ft of torque, 4 valves per cylinder - perhaps the most impressive is the 57 percent smaller fuel droplet size provided by the standard dual fuel injector system (versus conventional single injector systems). The pair of smaller injectors delivers a finer spray and wider injection of fuel to help achieve more complete combustion.
3. Leave the lineman on the curb. More weight is a good thing if you are a player in the National Football League, but not so great when designing a vehicle for fuel economy and driving responsiveness. The 2014 Versa Note features an estimated 300-pound weight reduction versus the previous generation design. It's the equivalent of kicking an NFL lineman out of the front passenger seat. Just hope he finds another ride.
4. Squash the competition (and drag). Lose the lineman, gain a squash player. In keeping with the sports theme, the unique side view of the new Versa Note body is marked by a highly distinctive character line.
Inspired by the trajectory of a squash ball hitting a wall, bouncing on the floor and returning to the player, this "rebound path" line projects the dynamic energy of Versa Note, whether on the road or standing still. The squash line is just one of many carefully crafted aerodynamic elements - including a large front spoiler, kick-up roof and underbody shaping - that gives Versa Note a coefficient of drag of 0.298 (CVT-equipped models). Game on.
5. Shutter Your Mouth. Among the many Versa Note class-exclusive*** features is the available Active Grille Shutter, the first ever used on a Nissan vehicle and the only one offered in the segment. By reducing the amount of air entering the engine compartment (generally at speeds above 20 miles per hour), it helps reduce aerodynamic drag - contributing to the overall nine percent lower coefficient of drag versus the previous Versa hatchback design.
6. Vented, Not Venti. Look closely at the new Versa Note's 370Z-style "boomerang" taillights and you'll see something quite unusual - a series of four thin openings on the flared outer lip. A world's first production design, the vented taillights help reduce wind turbulence around the back of the vehicle. The resulting smaller vortex helps keep the rear of the Versa Note clean, improving rear lamp visibility in bad weather.
7.Heads Up, Legs Out. Of all the best-in-class*** ways to judge the new Versa Note by, here are a couple you can get your head (and legs) around - the most front row headroom at 40.8 inches and the longest rear seat legroom at 38.3 inches, which is nearly four inches (3.7 inches) longer than the nearest competitor (34.6 inches). And just so that ample front room doesn't go to the driver and passenger's head, Versa Note offers available heated front seats to take care of the other extreme.
8.Turn Up the Volume. One of car designers' greatest challenges has always been making a small car big. The all-new Versa Note takes the previous generation design and stretches the envelope inside - while maintaining Versa's compact footprint. On the same wheelbase as the previous generation, the 2014 Versa Note features ample cargo volume of 18.8 cubic feet (rear seat up), best-in-class*** passenger room of 94.1 cubic feet and total interior volume of 112.9 cubic feet.
One other thing, to make it easier to enter and exit the spacious interior, there's a 20 percent increase in the degree of door openings (from the prior generation).
9. The Great Divide ('N Hide). If the incredible lifestyle flexibility provided by the new Versa Note's large, accessible hatchback - "Your Door to More" - wasn't enough, there's one more special feature designed to assist owners' active lifestyles. The innovative Divide-N-Hide® Adjustable Floor balances the sometimes conflicting needs of a flat cargo floor and maximized cargo space. The system's large split-folding floor board can be used to create a flat cargo area floor (with the standard 60/40 rear seat folded down), or to provide a hidden cargo storage area. With the floorboard tucked away (you never have to remove it from the vehicle unless you want to) it opens up a deep cargo well for carrying taller or bulkier items.
10. Bird is the word. Yet another affordable, class-exclusive*** technology found only on the new Versa Note in the segment is Nissan's advanced Around View® Monitor. The system utilizes four small superwide-angle cameras mounted on the front, side and rear of the vehicle to provide a "bird's eye" virtual 360° view of objects around the vehicle. Offered as part of the SL Tech Package, it provides additional selectable split-screen close-ups of the front, rear and curb views, helping the driver maneuver the car in or out of tight spots.
11. Connect the spots. When looking for the hottest parking spots in town in which to try out the Around View® Monitor, Versa Note's advanced NissanConnect? with Navigation System makes it easy - thanks to its POIs powered by Google™ and Google™ Send-to-Car features. With more than five million points of interest at the ready, it's easy to find or send directions to clubs, restaurants or other locations.
But the affordable NissanConnect? with Navigation System doesn't stop there. It also includes a 5.8-inch color touch-screen display, NavTraffic and NavWeather real-time advisories (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately), Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®, Pandora® radio capability (iPhone® only). And, when it comes to navigation, the system also incudes warnings for curves, speed limit information and an eco route setting.
12.Easy Come, Easy Fill. While every 2014 Versa Note comes with a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), the SL Package adds Nissan's reassuring Easy Fill Tire Alert system - which takes the guesswork out of filling a low tire with a beep of the horn and flash of the lights when you've reached the correct pressure.
13. $13,990. The last number might be the most impressive - the 2014 Versa Note's starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (M.S.R.P.) of just $13,990 USD****. Following the standard set by the high-value Versa sedan, the new Versa Note offers more value on all grades than the previous Versa hatchback (model year 2012).

Driving Tips to Keep your Car Cool in the Summer!
The San Diego summer sun can get your car interior cooking! Stay cool and get more out of your summer by using these tips to keep your car cooler when parked.
1. Use a sunshade or window visor.
This tried-and-true method of keeping your car cool should be your go-to option to counteract hot interior temps throughout the summer. Put up a sunshade or window visor every time you exit your car for more than a few minutes. Keep it even cooler for long periods by putting a sunshade in your rear window as well.
2. Use a dash cover.
A fabric or upholstered dash cover can go a long way towards making your car's interior more comfortable. You won't feel as overwhelmed by the heat if you don't have to touch hot vinyl surfaces. Dash covers also protect sensitive vinyl from sun damage that can cause cracking and fading.
3. Cover your steering wheel with a hand towel.
Even if you use a sunshade, it's a good idea to cover your steering wheel with a small towel. This will help to keep the contact temperature of your steering wheel down.
4. Park in a shady area. Whenever possible, park in a shady area.
If you're going to be somewhere for an extended period of time, it's worth it to walk a bit farther in order to park in the shade. You'll be happy to enter a not-so-hot car when you return from your day out.
5. Keep your possessions out of the sun.
CDs, jewelry, or delicate items that you keep in your car should be stored out of the path of direct sunlight. Try storing your easy to melt items underneath the seat. You can also throw a blanket over your precious possessions.
6. Park in a garage when possible.
Whenever possible, park in a garage. Your car will be out of direct sunlight and will have the benefit of near-constant shade. Even a warm garage beats being parked in the sun all day.
7. Keep windows slightly cracked.
While it's not a good idea to leave your windows all the way open, it is a good idea to leave them slightly cracked. Check to be sure that you can't fit your arm through the crack in your window. Even a small crack will promote ventilation and help to keep your car cool.
8. Purchase a solar-powered fan.
Paired with cracked windows, a solar-powered fan can make your car feel downright pleasant during even the hottest summer days. These simple fans work to expel hot air from your car. By creating constant air circulation, they lower your car's overall temperature.
9. Throw blankets over your seats.
If your car features vinyl or leather seats, you know just how hot these materials can become when exposed to sunlight and high temperatures. To keep car seats cool, throw blankets over them. When you return to the car, you can place the blankets on the floorboards or toss them in the trunk. Keeping your seats cool will make your car more pleasant on hot summer days.
10. Leave your doors open before getting in.
Before jumping into your hot car, leave the doors open for a few minutes, this will help the hot air exit and the cool air enter.
Here's a visual representation of the 10 Tips to Keep You Car Cool in the Summer:

Pathfinder wins 10 Best Family Cars list
2013 PATHFINDER is now #1 on KelleyBlueBooks' 10 Best Family Cars list, plus 10 Best Family Cars by Edmunds.com and Parents Magazine.
The reinvented 2013 Nissan Pathfinder was named to the top spot on the list of 10 Best Family Cars of 2013 from Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com. The 2013 Nissan Altima also made this year's cut of KBB.com's top family-friendly vehicles. Each year, editors at Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com, the leading provider of new and used car information, develop their list of the 10 Best Family Cars based on characteristics that cater to unique family specifications and situations.
"The Pathfinder and Altima were both completely redesigned to enhance the driver and passenger experience with a bevy of technology and styling upgrades that satisfy the needs of the entire family," said Jon Brancheau, vice president, Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc. "The marketplace has embraced the new direction of these vehicles, and it's a tremendous honor to be recognized by Kelley Blue Book for our achievements in making Pathfinder and Altima two of the most family-friendly vehicles on the road today."
The 2013 Pathfinder represents a new synthesis of comfort and utility for this iconic, 27-year-old nameplate, with a more refined unibody construction providing a civilized ride yet maintaining best-in-class standard towing capacity of 5000 lbs. Kelley Blue Book's editors also recognized the vehicle's improved ride quality, better handling and best-in-class highway fuel economy of 26 mpg. Technology played a big role in Pathfinder's award as well, with KBB.com praising features such as available Around View® Monitor with "bird's eye" view, which the outlet claims is "among our favorite features in existence."
The all-new fourth-generation Pathfinder seats up to seven passengers comfortably and boasts best-in-class interior volume, best-in-class front headroom and legroom and class-exclusive reclining third row seats*. The Nissan EZ FlexTM Seating System allows the second row to move forward or backward up to 5 1/2 inches for easy access to the back row, even with a child seat installed. When carrying seven passengers, the Pathfinder still accommodates up to 16 cubic feet of cargo.
The 2013 Nissan Altima, launched in June of 2012, was included among KBB.com's 10 Best Family Cars due to its "sharp new look, tech-savvy features, refined driving characteristics and class-leading fuel economy" of 38 mpg. KBB.com gave special mention to Altima's "comfortable seating for five and a host of safety features including blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep assist."
The fifth-generation Altima is equipped with standard Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System and Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®. Other innovative technologies offered on Altima include NissanConnectSM and NissanConnectSM Navigation with a suite of Bluetooth® phone connectivity features including hands-free text message integration, Pandora® playback, real-time Google® POI search and more. Easy Fill Tire Alert adds further convenience for drivers and passengers who are protected by next-generation Safety Shield Technologies including Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Moving Object Detection (MOD) systems.

The buzz grows as Mossy Nissan’s e-NV200 electric van hits the road!
Nissan's e-NV200 concept vehicle
When Nissan unveiled their e-NV200 concept vehicle at the 2012 Detroit North American International Auto Show it created quite a buzz. There was so much interest in this revolutionary battery-powered commercial van that Nissan was invited to test it as a mail delivery and collection vehicle in Japan. The success of this test caught the attention of Fedex. The international carrier teamed up with Nissan to test a prototype all-electric NV as a delivery van in London, England and later in Hanover, Germany. Needless to say, these tests were very successful at proving the potential of a battery-powered commercial vehicle.
Innovative Technology + Amazing Styling
Nissan modeled their "electrifying" Nissan e-NV200 after the highly acclaimed Nissan NV200 commercial van - which won the 2010 International Van of the Year award for Nissan. The Nissan e-NV200 adds even more bold designs, and full electric capabilities-plus zero-emissions! This exciting new van is quiet, comfortable, and highly versatile with a functional interior space and compact body length. A potential game-changing vehicle in its segment, the battery capacity will support a driving range similar to the Nissan LEAF, while payload and cargo space will offer the same level as the current NV200. The production version would be targeted mainly at businesses, but also at private users.
New York City "hails" the Nissan NV200 and e-NV200
There's more exciting news for the Nissan NV line of vans. The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission has selected the gasoline powered Nissan NV200 as the exclusivetaxi of New York City for 10 years beginning in the end of 2013. Taxis carry 600,000 passengers a day in New York City traffic, so this is a great opportunity for Nissan to show the world the reliability, safety and innovative technology of it's vehicles. The Nissan NV taxis will feature charging stations that include a 12 volt electrical outlet and 2 USB plugs for passengers to juice up their mobile electronics. And, as part of New York's "Taxi of Tomorrow" initiative, Nissan will work with City and taxi owners on a pilot program to study the zero-emission, all electric e-NV200 as taxis!
You can check back to see when this innovative Nissan vehicle becomes available at Mossy Nissan. In the meantime, you can see Mossy San Diego's giant inventory of NV Cargo Vans or NV Passenger Vans!

Based upon EPA five-cycle tests using varying driving conditions and climate controls, the EPA has rated the Nissan LEAF® a driving range of 73 miles. Battery capacity decreases with time and use. Actual range will vary depending upon driving/charging habits, speed, conditions, weather, temperature, and battery age.
