Nissan Juke World Tour

Nissan Juke Crossover World Tour

Nissan toured the world with its Juke R – a Nissan Europe project to cram a GT-R engine under the bonnet of a Juke. Today, though, we’re touring the Midlands in something altogether more extreme. This is the Severn Valley Motorsport Qashqai R and it would leave the works effort trailing in its wake.

Tuning specialist Severn Valley Motorsport was responsible, briefly, for the world’s fastest GT-R, the 1,250bhp Hulk, last year. Having seen the splash the Juke R made and seeing the potential to promote his own blooming GT-R tuning business, SVM boss Kevan Kemp walked into a Nissan showroom armed with a tape measure and the Qashqai R was born.

Under the hood lies SVM’s most aggressive tuning package for the GT-R’s twin-turbo V6. With capacity upped to 4.1-litres, it’s capable of running on Ethanol and delivering up to 1150bhp, or around 950bhp on Super Unleaded. We plant the throttle expecting fireworks, what we get is Veyron-baiting performance and the sinister roar of a twin-turbocharged V6 that fills cabin as all four wheels scrabble hopelessly for grip through the first three gears. Drive the Qashqai R in a higher gear, with gentler throttle inputs and the only clue to that tidal wave of performance is a slight lumpiness to the engine. Drive it hard though, this is a monster.

5 Reasons to Buy a 2014 Nissan Sentra

5 Reasons to Buy a 2014 Nissan Sentra

Nissan has been producing the Nissan Sentra for over thirty years now. Currently this timeless sedan has undergone a complete overhaul and has been redesigned to perfection. Below are 5 reasons why the Sentra is still a solid choice according to AutoTrader.com:

Comfortable Ride
You hear a lot these days about small sedans that are fun to drive, but most people we know would rather have some peace and quiet during their commutes. That's why the Sentra is tuned for comfort, not crazy handling. When you hit a pothole, the Sentra barely bats an eyelid. It's a relaxing car to drive, and that's a big deal when you're driving it daily.
High-End Features
Like most of its rivals, the Sentra can be loaded up with the latest amenities. Available features include alloy wheels, keyless entry/ignition, Bluetooth, a 4.3-inch display screen, smartphone integration, dual-zone automatic climate control and leather upholstery. You can even get a Bose audio system via the Premium package. This isn't one of those bare-bones Sentras from the '90s; it has all the extras if you want them.
Spacious Cabin and Trunk
Nissan has made passenger room a matter of high importance in its smaller cars, and that's evident inside the Sentra. Front-seat riders have plenty of space, but the real revelation is the back seat, which can accommodate a couple 6-footers just as capably as a midsize family sedan. The trunk is also generous, nearly matching the larger Altima with 15 cu ft. of space.
Mature Styling
The Sentra's revised styling looks more upscale than before. Clearly inspired by the Altima and Maxima, the Sentra flaunts aggressive headlights and curvaceous body panels that punch above their price. Some competitors try hard to bring a more youthful style, but the Sentra rolls with the same grown-up, organic lines as Nissan's other sedans. It just happens to be served in a smaller portion.
Great Fuel Economy
Fuel efficiency has always been a Sentra hallmark, but the latest model ups its game. With the continuously variable automatic transmission, the Sentra delivers up to 30 miles per gallon in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. That puts it right up there with the class leaders, especially for city driving. It's rare for a car to return 30 mpg on the urban cycle without diesel or hybrid power.

Nissan LEAF roars into safari service in the UK

Nissan LEAF roars into safari service in the UK

LIVERPOOL, England: One of the United Kingdom's leading zoological attractions has tamed its fuel costs and moved further towards its sustainability objectives by adding a 100% electric Nissan LEAF to its fleet.

The award-winning model is being used by the Learning and Discovery Team at Knowsley Safari near Liverpool as they deliver a conservation and sustainability message to schools across England.

The team's two full-time educators clock up around 10,000 miles a year working predominantly with primary school children. The educators also often transport a variety of snakes, spiders and assorted creepy-crawlies.

Sponsored by local dealer Nissan Liverpool in Sefton Street and wearing Knowsley Safari's striking livery, the eye-catching model is charged using electricity from the attraction's own solar panels and is therefore entirely free to run.

A zero emissions vehicle, the Nissan LEAF is also making a sizeable contribution to the park's environmental and sustainability goals. The park already harnesses rainwater and operates a zero-to-landfill policy.

"In many ways the LEAF is the perfect car for us," said Richard Smith, head of visitor services at Knowsley Safari. "It's fantastic. Because we've been able to couple our charger to our solar panels, there are effectively no running costs and that's a real advantage. We also operate in accordance with a strict sustainability plan, and in that regard the LEAF is a winner too. It fits very neatly with the overall message the Learning and Discovery Team are delivering at schools across the region."

Nissan Liverpool General Sales Manager, Mike Thomas, said: "We're delighted to be able to support such a prestigious and fantastic attraction, and I'm delighted they're reaping the benefits of the Nissan LEAF. So many other businesses and individuals could be enjoying the environmental and economic benefits of the model as well, and I'd encourage them to take a test drive and see how easily it could meet their needs. Even when it's charged from a domestic socket rather than from solar panels, the LEAF costs just two pence per mile to run, and it's hard to argue with that."

Nissan and City Football Group establish global football partnership

Nissan and City Football Group establish global football partnership

YOKOHAMA, Japan: Nissan Motor Co. and City Football Group (CFG) today unveiled a global partnership, which will see the Japanese car manufacturer become the Official Automotive Partner of City Football Group.

The five year deal represents a first for CFG, with Nissan becoming the first global partner of the football network, an organization including Nissan majority owned Yokohama F-Marinos alongside Barclays Premier League Champions, Manchester City FC, Manchester City Women's FC, New York City FC, and Melbourne City FC. City Football Group also owns Football and Marketing Companies operating from a number of offices around the world.

The Nissan CFG partnership will see Nissan become the Official Automotive Sponsor of Manchester City Football Club and enjoy a strong brand presence at the Club's famous Etihad Stadium, complemented by fan engagement opportunities targeting City supporters all over the world. This will sit alongside unique rights packages in the territories of each of CFG's network of football clubs.

The collaboration follows the previous agreement between the two organizations, announced in May of this year, which saw CFG assume a minority stake in the Nissan owned Yokohama F-Marinos and commit to provide its knowledge, expertise and services to the J-League club through the City Football Services and City Football Marketing companies.

"Nissan has always been immensely proud of its place in Yokohama F-Marinos history and is now privileged to be part of the story of CFG and their network of fantastic global football teams," said Carlos Ghosn, Nissan President and CEO. "This innovative partnership enhances Nissan's investment in the game of soccer which is a key platform to further strengthen our brand globally. Additionally, the value in kind deal will see Nissan introduce the world's best-selling electric vehicle to the world's fastest growing football team, an example of how the collaboration will pair innovation with innovation to bring the excitement of Nissan and soccer to customers around the world."

Khaldoon al Mubarak, Chairman of City Football Group, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Nissan as CFG's first group-wide global partner. Nissan is a leader in innovation and sustainability, values which are also at the heart of our own organization. Through our investment in, and support of, the Yokohama F-Marinos, it has become very clear that Nissan and CFG also share a common passion and ambition for further growth and development. As a result, this new partnership presents us both with incredibly exciting opportunities to collaborate through football both in Japan and across the world."

Including one of the world's fastest growing football clubs in Manchester City FC, the CFG network of football clubs represents an excellent business platform for Nissan as it continues to expand its association with football worldwide. The recent signing of global football star, David Villa, will see the Spanish international play for New York City FC and in Melbourne as a guest player, reflecting the potential of the network's unique business model and driving huge excitement around the new season for both clubs.

The CFG partnership is another example of Nissan's dedication and growth in global sports which already includes the brand's proud sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League, Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Olympic Team Great Britain and Mexico, Africa Cup of Nations, NCAA Football, Heisman Trophy, Canadian Football League and sporting ambassadors including Olympics Gold Medalists Usain Bolt and Chris Hoy.

Top 5 Coolest Nissan Cars Featured in Gran Turismo

Top 5 Coolest Nissan Cars Featured in Gran Turismo

Nissan just debuted a new, futuristic-looking sports car concept for Gran Turismo 6 called the Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, which joins the extensive list of Nissan vehicles that have been featured in all six editions of Gran Turismo. In fact, Nissan has had more vehicles featured in the game than any other brand since the original Gran Turismo debuted in 1998. Out of these 148 cars, here are our five standout picks.

1998 Nissan R390 GT1

The mid-engine Nissan R390 racer was built for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1997 and 1998, and was a fast runner in its class thanks to the twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter V-8 engine and extremely aerodynamic body. Although two of Nissan’s three R390 cars suffered mechanical failure in the 1997 race, four R390 GT1 racers completed the 1998 Le Mans race all in the top 10. The R390 was retired after 1998 because of changing regulations, but you can still run the Nissan R390 down the digitalized version of the famous Mulsanne Straight thanks to Gran Turismo. You can even virtually drive the extremely rare road-legal version of the Nissan R390, of which only two were ever built.

2001 Nissan GT-R Concept

One of the coolest things about Gran Turismo is that you can drive one-off concept cars that, in many cases, weren't even drivable in real life. This GT-R prototype, which debuted a full six years before the current-generation Nissan GT-R was revealed at the 2007 Tokyo auto show, was meant to show what the legendary GT-R would look like in the 21st century. Although the roofline may have more closely previewed the look of the Infiniti G35 Coupe, many of these design cues like the swept-back headlights and quad rear taillights, made it to the GT-R we know and love today.

1989 Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX Twin Turbo

The 1989 Nissan 300ZX was featured as one of our 5 Japanese Cars that Shocked the Auto Industry in 1989, and this sports car was truly a revolution with its high-tech, high-performance construction that brought new life to the Z nameplate after a few decades of softer and heavier Z cars. The twin-turbo V-6 engine put out 300 hp, a big number for the time, and we named it our 1990 Design of the year, comparing it with the benchmark Porsche 944.

1989 Nissan Pao

This tiny 51-hp hatchback may not fit in with the other performance cars on this list, but the Nissan Pao was a funky, retro-inspired limited edition car for the Japanese market only. Underneath, it was similar to the Nissan March economy car, but the exterior design stood out with its boxy lines, available canvas roof, external door hinges, and chrome luggage rack that were meant to evoke classic cars like the Citroen 2CV and the original BMC Mini Cooper.

1971 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG

Although it was called the Datsun 240Z in the U.S., this Nissan 240ZG is the same original Z that first started Nissan on its impressive run of affordable sports cars. This Japan-only 240ZG model featured in Gran Turismo was built as a homologation special for the Group 4 racing version of the Z in 1971. It featured a 2.4-liter straight-six with 150 hp that mated with a five-speed manual transmission. For more on the Datsun 240Z, check out our drive through the hills of Tennessee in a 1971 240Z and a 2013 Scion FR-S.

Nissan GT-R vs Jaguar F-Type

Nissan GT-R vs Jaguar F-Type

It would seem that the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R is the performance king of the jungle. First, Motor Trend challenged it against a Porsche 911 on video to see how it fared. Now, Autocar in the UK is pitting the Jag against the latest iteration of the Nissan GT-R around a small course in a time trial battle. Who do you think will come out on top?
On paper, the F-Type Coupe is the clear winner. however, they both share the same 542 horsepower. But the Jaguar has more torque, less weight and an eight-speed gearbox, compared to the six-speed in the GT-R. That seems like an automatic recipe for victory. However, the Nissan claims a faster sprint to 62 miles per hour and all-wheel drive.
So which would you rather drive? The Nissan GT-R is only a fraction of the price as a Jag and just as impressive on the track!

Nissan survives the longest night at the Nürburgring

Nissan survives the longest night at the Nürburgring

NÜRBURGRING, Germany- Two Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 race cars have finished the 2014 Nürburgring 24 Hours. The grueling race, held on the 25-kilometer Nordschleife, saw over 160 cars and 600 drivers compete for glory in one of the toughest racing events in the world.

The star of the show for Nissan was 2013 GT Academy Germany graduate Florian Strauss.  After Lucas Ordonez was struck down with flu, the No.80 GT-R was left a man down, and despite the fact that Florian has only been racing for nine months, he had to take his full share of driving duty - eight hours of navigating the Nordschleife's 172 corners, many of which are blind.
"I wasn't too nervous, as I have been out on this track at a recent VLN race," said Strauss. "We had a bit of bad luck in the beginning, so I wanted to make sure I did everything I could to catch up again. I caught Chiyo-san (in the No.30 Nissan) at one point and we had a good battle together as we went through traffic so that was very exciting. I made sure I kept calm and got into a good rhythm to do the best I could for the team."
The bad luck Strauss mentioned was lap one contact for the No.80 GT-R, which forced Alex Buncombe to pit for repairs, instantly losing a lap on the competition. That car was then in fight back mode for the remainder of the race. Buncombe was able to lap on the pace of the leaders, but despite his best efforts and those of Nick Heidfeld and Strauss, the mountain was too high to climb.

Nick Heidfeld put in some great stints in the No.80 GT-R but came unstuck during the night when he made contact with another car.
"After Foxhole, which is a very quick part of the circuit, I came out of the compression and saw a yellow light, then straight away I saw double yellows which means you have to be travelling at 60kph," said Heidfeld. "I didn't get enough warning so I decelerated as much as I could but then came across two cars blocking the circuit. I had to choose between hitting one of them or going onto the grass. I avoided the grass as I didn't know if there were marshals there and hit one of the cars."
The resulting damage put the No.80 GT-R out of action for an hour, but once back in the race the car ran well.
"Overall I have enjoyed the race and it is good to get my first Nürburgring 24 Hours finish, despite not taking the position we hoped for," said Heidfeld. "Realistically we had the pace for a top 10 finish."
For the first eight hours of the race, the No.30 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 - driven by Michael Krumm, Kazuki Hoshino, Katsumasa Chiyo and Tetsuya Tanaka - ran strongly, but just after midnight a call rang out over the team radio to say there had been an accident, ironically at the same spot where Heidfeld later had his accident.
After exiting the Foxhole, Hoshino came across a stationery car and had to take emergency avoiding action but made hard contact with the barrier.  Hoshino managed to get the GT-R back to the garage, but after a thorough inspection it became apparent that the chassis frame was too damaged to repair.  The team officially withdrew the No.30 car from the race at 02:30hrs.

The highest finishing Nissan was the No.24 GT-R of Schulze Motorsport, raced by Kazanori Yamauchi, Jordan Tresson and Tobias and Michael Schulze. They crossed the line in 12th position in class.
"Before we came here, we knew what a big challenge this event was," said Darren Cox, Global Head of Brand, Marketing & Sales, NISMO. "We went head-to-head with established teams who have been coming here for years, and I'm proud of the job we did here. The Nordschleife is an incredible challenge so I was especially pleased to see how well Florian conducted himself here. Off track we had a great Nürburgring 24 Hours, exciting the loyal fans of this event with live streaming on NISMO.TV and welcoming a huge number of guests at NISMO Race Camp. We may not have got the results we wanted on track – through punctures, accidents and some bad luck – but we gave it our all and will be back again next year."

Nissan announces America’s best commercial van warranty

Nissan announces America's best commercial van warranty; now 5-year/100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nissan is announcing America's best commercial van warranty* on its Light Commercial Vehicles, increasing basic limited warranty coverage from 3 years/36,000 miles to 5 years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first. The powertrain limited warranty has also been extended from 5 years/60,000 miles to 5 years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The specific models covered by this new bumper-to-bumper warranty include the 2014 NV Cargo Van, NV Passenger Van and the NV200 Compact Cargo.**

"While we're relatively new to the world of commercial vehicles in the U.S., we've already proven our mettle with vehicles that endure harsh conditions that passenger cars will never see,"  said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations.  "This warranty reaffirms our confidence in the quality of our vehicles, as some of the NV 2500 and 3500 models have already accrued 550,000-plus miles of real-world use.”

The improved warranty retroactively covers all 2014 model year Nissan Commercial Vehicles. Nissan has been selling LCVs in the U.S. since spring 2011 with the introduction of the NV Cargo and NV Passenger vans. The NV200 Compact Cargo was released to acclaim in April 2013 and is also the base for the Chevrolet City Express, General Motors' upcoming entry into the segment.

"As Nissan Commercial Vehicles have established a reputation for ruggedness and durability in the field, we're gaining sales traction and customer acceptance of our work vehicles," Diaz added. "We're in the commercial vehicle game for the long haul, and this warranty will further help our customers to have greater confidence in their vehicles."

Nissan's new Light Commercial Vehicle warranty was inspired in part by the stories of Nissan Commercial Vehicles experiencing remarkable longevity under real-world work circumstances with businesses such as Above and Beyond Delivery. The company operates a fleet of 18-20 Nissan NV 3500 cargo vans out of Chandler, Ariz., supporting the mining, pharmaceuticals and food services industries. Above and Beyond began working with Nissan back in 2011, when an NV Cargo was lent to the company for its operations in the mining industry.

The initial vehicle used by Above and Beyond accrued more than 550,000 miles on its odometer with few repairs or downtime in the course of its service - the most major being an alternator replacement at 382,000 miles.

"Our drivers operate in the extreme weather of Arizona in challenging conditions, such as the Morenci Mine, which is one of the world's largest copper mines. Service failures are not an option for us. If a vehicle is down, it is not making money, so the reliability of the Nissan NVs is a massive advantage," said James Bowman, president, Above and Beyond Delivery.

"We have been very impressed at how good the Nissan NV lineup has gotten - especially with our half-million-mile experience with a single NV Cargo hauling large rock samples - so we are in the process of transitioning all of our light-duty delivery vehicles to Nissan NVs.  We have 25 vehicles on order at present."

Year-to-date, Nissan has sold more than 10,700 commercial vehicles in the U.S., an 88 percent increase over this time period in 2013.

All Nissan Commercial Vehicles sold in the U.S. are assembled in North America, with the NV Cargo and NV Passenger assembled in Canton, Miss., and the NV200 assembled in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Stop by Mossy today for a great deal on your commercial van!

Nissan among the top global green brands for 2014

Nissan among the top global green brands for 2014

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Nissan has again risen in the ranks of the world's greenest brands. The company improved its position to fourth place in Interbrand's Best Global Green Brands report, up from fifth last year. The survey cited Nissan's leadership in electric vehicles, ambitious EV infrastructure plan and its support for the sustainability goals of governments. The green brand report ranks brands based on a company's environmental practices and customers' perceptions of their eco-friendliness and social impact.

By ranking fourth in 2014, Nissan improved on its strong showing last year when it moved up 16 positions to crack Interbrand's Best Global Green Brand top 10 for the first time.

"More and more people want to buy products from brands that come from organizations they trust and believe in," said Roel De Vries, Nissan corporate vice president responsible for Global Marketing, Brand and Communications. "Best Green Global Brands is a reflection of everything that we as a brand do to make the world a better place. That we are recognized this year as among the best is a confirmation we are on the right path."

Electric vehicles (EV) offer no CO2 during operation and are widely recognized as eco-friendly. The Nissan LEAF is the best-selling electric vehicle in history, with more than 120,000 units sold since launch. It held nearly 50 percent of the global EV market share in 2013. Already dominating the EV market, Nissan launched its second all-electric vehicle, the e-NV200 commercial van, in June 2014. Compared to commercial vehicles that use internal combustion engines, the e-NV200 offers reduced running costs as a zero-emission alternative for urban cargo delivery and taxi companies.

Nissan is also working to build infrastructure to accelerate uptake of EV technology. The company is aiming to triple the number of recharging devices in major U.S. cities over the next 18 months. In Japan, there are more than 6,000 chargers available to the public, and Nissan is working with industry players to speed up the establishment of more. In Europe, 1,100 quick chargers have been installed.

In Bhutan, Nissan is cooperating with the government to convert the majority of its vehicles to sustainable 100-percent electric power. The Nissan LEAF is slated to become the vehicle of choice for the Bhutanese government and taxicabs in the capital city of Thimphu.

The all-electric 2014 Nissan LEAF is available at all 7 Mossy Nissan locations in San Diego. Check out our inventory now!

Hey Smart Lookin’: Nissan’s “Smart” Rearview Mirror

Hey Smart Lookin': We Sample Nissan's "Smart" Rearview Mirror Technology

At this year's New York auto show, Nissan showed off an interesting piece of rearview-mirror technology that no one in our office paid any attention to - mostly because the brand's flashy 2015 Murano debuted at the same time. Dubbed the Smart Rearview Camera, the tech consists of a rearview mirror that can be toggled between a regular mirror and a display showing a feed from a rear-facing camera. Thanks to Nissan bringing a Rogue outfitted with a prototype Smart Rearview Camera to our office, we've now sampled the feature for ourselves.
The technology behind the Smart mirror is similar to the backup-camera displays Nissan has embedded in rearview mirrors for years - other manufacturers like Ram have done this, too - except in this case the entire mirror surface is also a display. If you're thinking this is simply a backup camera, slow your roll - it is a full digital replacement for the rearview mirror, designed to be used while on the move. At the flick of the day/night lever, the system switches the rearview mirror to Smart Rearview Camera mode.
The video feed from the rear comes from a small camera - separate from the backup camera - mounted behind the Rogue's rear hatch glass, just beneath the center high-mounted brake light. This way, the camera's view out of the back can be cleared in inclement weather or dusty conditions by using the wiper and defroster. The camera enables drivers to see what's behind them even if the cargo hold is full to bursting or if the rear-seat passengers have big heads. As a bonus, the camera improves on the regular rearview mirror's visible angle by 30 percent.
Driving around with the system switched on, we were able to see more or less everything we could see with the regular mirror, albeit with more blind-spot coverage. The view can be adjusted for height and zoom, but even set as low as possible, the camera seems focused too high; for example, when stopped in traffic, most of the car immediately behind you isn't visible. Now, it's the same when using the regular mirror, but we were left wanting more out of the camera. We were told the camera's limited vertical view is a constraint dictated by the mirror’s size—if they made the unit taller, it would block more of the windshield and seem bulky.
Another downside is depth perception; because of the nature of the camera's lens, it's tough to get a sense of depth when using the Smart Rearview Mirror. The camera almost requires the disclaimer: "objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear—but only those in the center of the mirror." Also, when using the regular mirror, the driver's view aft is bracketed by the back window, which helps place the car relative to other cars and objects behind you. The camera lacks this frame, and it lends the Smart Rearview Mirror's view of the world a disconnected feeling. We're sure that, with time, a driver would get used to it - and Nissan's people assured us this is the case - but just jumping in and trying it out for the first time, we weren't confident enough to pull off truly heroic lane changes or use it for backing up.
Which brings us to the Smart Rearview Mirror-vs.-backup-camera debate. Instinctively, every time we put the prototype Rogue in reverse, we'd look to the center mirror, when in fact the lower and more useful backup camera sends its feed to the dashboard display. This was a bit confusing, especially given the display also shows the four-camera Around View bird's-eye account of things. It would be nice if the Smart Mirror switched to regular mode—to bring back that good old-fashioned depth perception - and left only the more useful (due to its lower height and bumper proximity) backup camera to show what’s going on behind you.
All of this should be worked out in due time, however. In the U.S., the Smart Rearview Mirror is still in the development stage. It's already on sale in Japan, and really, this same tech has been around for a while - many box trucks and other commercial vehicles have utilized a camera feed from the rear to give drivers a rearview-mirror-like glimpse at what's behind them. But those efforts weren't so seamlessly packaged into a mirror-like unit that folks are already familiar with. When will we see the Smart Rearview Mirror go on sale in the U.S.? Nissan says we'll get it within two years.

Nissan and PlayStation reveal future vision

Nissan lifts the virtual covers off the NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, a vision of what a high performance Nissan could look like in the future. It was created through close collaboration with the creators of Gran Turismo®, Polyphony Digital Inc., the legendary PlayStation® driving franchise.
NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo began life as dream project for Nissan designers who were given free rein to create their dream supercar for their own Gran Turismo fantasy garage.

Created by a team of young designers at Nissan Design Europe, in London, England, the model was considered to have so much potential that it has benefited from input from an advanced engineering team based at Nissan Technical Centre in Atsugi, Japan.

As a result, NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo gives hints as to how a supercar of the future might look.

In July, automotive enthusiasts will be able to discover that performance first-hand when it becomes available to download in Gran Turismo®6, just as they did with the NISSAN GT-R and Skylines from earlier episodes of the historic franchise. That performance heritage and commitment to delivering excitement for enthusiasts is why there are Nissan vehicles in the franchise.

But as a specialist in automotive design in three-dimensions, Nissan believes that the real-world is ready for the NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. Watch this space…

Project Titan will invite fans to choose custom modifications for a 2014 Nissan Titan that two Wounded Warrior Project Alumni® will pilot through the Alaskan wilderness this summer.

Fans are encouraged to visit Facebook.com/NissanTrucks to vote on their preferences for the Titan's performance, utility, design and other modifications during the next few weeks. Nissan will build the project truck based on this fan feedback and will share exclusive videos and photos of its progress. Once complete, Nissan will take the truck to Alaska, where WWP Alumni David Guzman and Kevin McMahon will embark on a multi-day trek that will put the veterans and the vehicle to the test. Nissan will document their adventure and produce a YouTube series launching in September. Project Titan is Nissan's second crowdsourced vehicle project, following the automaker's Project 370Z performance build in 2012.

"This is going to be one incredible adventure," said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations U.S. "The Nissan Titan is already well-equipped to tackle a trip into the wilderness, but we are going to push this custom-built version to its limits to give these fearless Warriors all they can handle and memories they will never forget."
The ruggedly tailored Titan will enable the veterans to take on the natural terrain of the Alaskan wild. To assist in their off-roading explorations, the veterans will put Titan's cargo carrying flexibility to the test by loading up the truck with an array of outdoor recreational and survival equipment. With a maximum towing capacity of 9,500 lbs., a sliding bed extender, the Utili-track™ Bed Channel System for optimum cargo hauling and a lockable bedside storage compartment, the Titan's undeniable functionality makes it the perfect companion for the rigorous excursion.

The 2014 Nissan Frontier ranks #1 in TheStreet.com’s “5 Trucks That Don’t Cost Big Bucks”

The 2014 Nissan Frontier ranks #1 in TheStreet.com's "5 Trucks That Don't Cost Big Bucks"

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Do you need a heavy-duty truck but only have a lightweight budget? Read on to check out 2014's absolutely least-expensive pickups.

"You're not really sacrificing anything by choosing any of these models," says Warren Clarke of car-buying site Edmunds.com, which compiled a rundown recently of top trucks for the tight-fisted. "The only thing you're giving up are certain features that might not be all that important to you anyway."

Clarke says penny-pinching pickups often lack just certain creature comforts that buyers often find they can live without in a work-oriented vehicle.

"Many people purchase these trucks for small-business or weekend use, so they don't need all of the 'bells and whistles' that they'd want on a car that they plan to drive to and from work every day," he says.

The Street, has awarded the Nissan Frontier the Cheapest Truck of 2014. with an MSRP of $18,850 and king cab editions.

the Nissan Frontier is a popular midsized truck that has a smaller size -- but tinier sticker price -- than what a full-sized pickup offers.

"The Frontier is another strong pick that's enjoyable to drive and has a cabin that's a really pleasant place to be," Clarke says. He adds that the model offers surprisingly good off-road abilities despite the fact that base Frontiers come with manual transmission and just a 152-horsepower four-cylinder engine. Entry-level models also include few amenities, lacking even air conditioning and a stereo unless you add an optional Preferred Package (list price: $1,200).

On the plus side, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rates the base Frontier's fuel efficiency at a solid 19 mpg/city and 23 mpg/highway.

Nissan Rogue named “Best Crossover” in Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com 10 Best Family Cars list

Nissan Rogue named "Best Crossover" in 2014 Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com 10 Best Family Cars list

The 2014 Nissan Rogue is the first vehicle to utilize the new jointly developed Nissan/Renault Common Module Family (CMF) platform architecture. The added efficiencies provided by the joint development allow Nissan to deliver unprecedented value in the segment.

Reaffirming its position as an ideal family road-trip machine, the all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue was named "Best Crossover" in the 2014 Parents and Edmunds.com 10 Best Family Cars list. The award comes on the heels of news that the 2014 Rogue set yet another sales record in May 2013.

For the seventh straight year, car experts at Parents and Edmunds.com evaluated hundreds of vehicles to determine which are best suited for families. This year, the top 10 were chosen based on safety, convenience and high-tech performance features at all price levels. As a recent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) "Top Safety Pick Plus" - coupled with best-in-class cargo capacity, best-in-class starting price, best-in-class highway fuel economy and innovative, class-exclusive features such as the EZ Flex Seating System, Divide-N-Hide Cargo System and available Around View Monitor - the 2014 Nissan Rogue met the judges' criteria across all categories.

"On behalf of all of our Nissan families, it's an honor to receive this award from Parents and Edmunds.com for the all-new 2014 Rogue," said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations. "With its combination of innovative features and a strong value equation, the Rogue allows families to ride in comfort and style without burning a hole in the pocket book."

The Nissan Rogue, which was completely redesigned for the 2014 model year, features bold, emotive styling, a premium interior created with comfort and multi-tasking in mind, and an array of available affordable technologies. Rogue offers optional 3-row/7-passenger seating, along with exceptional passenger and cargo flexibility. Every 2014 Nissan Rogue is equipped with a responsive 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine is matched with an advanced Xtronic transmission. Rogue comes in three well-equipped models, S, SV and SL, each in a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Nissan becomes the first company to sell a 100% electric vehicle in Mexico

Nissan becomes the first company to sell a 100% electric vehicle in Mexico

MEXICO CITY (June 4, 2014) ñ Nissan today announced the launch of LEAF, the first 100 percent electric vehicle to be marketed in Mexico. The presale starts today and will continue until its arrival on June 30.

Nissan announced the launch of LEAF, the first 100 percent electric vehicle to be marketed in Mexico. The presale will continue until its arrival on June 30.

Nissan LEAF is the first zero-emissions vehicle marketed in Mexico, confirming the leadership and the promise of the Japanese company to transform traditional driving into a new silent experience.

"Nissan LEAF is a reality in the Mexican market," said Airton Cousseau, CEO of Nissan Mexicana. "We are proud to be the pioneer company to introduce the first zero-emissions vehicle leader in sales worldwide in Mexico. This release represents an honor for us and recognizes a milestone in the history of innovation in Nissan, a cornerstone of our business strategy."

In Mexico, the Nissan LEAF will be available in a unique version with Around View Monitor that allows a panoramic view around the car, "B Mode driving" that allows power renewal almost immediately after the throttle is removed, a fast-charging port that allows a recharge of 80 percent of the battery in just 30 minutes, leather seats, a 7-inch touch screen, and many other features.

"Many of the 115,000 LEAF users have expressed the thrill of driving an electric vehicle," said Alejandro Viveros, senior manager of the zero-emissions business unit. "Having a Nissan LEAF is a totally fun and satisfying experience that now Mexican customers can enjoy."

Initially, the Nissan LEAF in Mexico will be available for sale through Nissan's certified dealership network located in Mexico City.

In addition, Nissan and the Government of the State of Morelos have taken the initiative to create the first electric corridor in Latin America that will be located between Mexico City and Cuernavaca.

Mexico City soon will have a development plan to install charging zones in Colonia Roma, Colonia Del Valle, Coyoacan, Polanco, Santa Fe, Ciudad Satelite, Altavista and San Angel.

"The main goal of this infrastructure is to increase the offer of charging stations to increase the confidence and safety when driving an electric vehicle, with the benefit of a responsible social change," said Jorge Vallejo, director of external relations and government affairs for Nissan in Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean. "We understand the anxiety that driving an electric vehicle can cause without the proper infrastructure in each city, and the most important and positive fact is that every Nissan LEAF user has the chance to charge the vehicle at home."

Nissan presented the results of a study led by INAINE (Institute for Ecological Research Assistance, AC) in relation to the development of EV infrastructure in Mexico City. The study was possible thanks to a fund that METI (a Japanese government entity) awarded Nissan, and it confirmed the viability of infrastructure development for the marketing of EVs in Mexico City.
